College Scholarships

Confirmation
Program Content and Requirements Third Grade Students
- Pastor makes a home visit to explain the Confirming Community program
- Students receive a bible at their Rite of Investiture (A formal beginning) during regular Worship service
- Students attends Sunday school and Worship regularly
- Students memorizes the Lord's Prayer and the Apostles Creed-- leading both in worship sometime in Spring
- Students participate in special service and activities as planned throughout the year
Fourth Grade Students
- Students attends Sunday school and Worship regularly
- Family studies the Gospel of Mark together during the Lenten season
- Student receives Acolyte Training
- Student serves in worship as Acolyte during assigned month
- Student memorizes the books of the Old Testament and studies the Nicene Creed (recite in worship in the spring)
- Student participates in special services and activities as planned throughout the year
Fifth Grade Students
- Students attends Sunday school and Worship regularly
- Catechumen and Parents attend a Sunday afternoon retreat to learn about th Sacrament of Holy Communion
- Student receives First Communion
- Student memorizes the books of the New Testament
- Catechumen studies Baptism and Martin Luther's meaning with the Pastor during regular Sunday School classes
- Student serves in worship as Acolyte during assigned month
- Student participates in special services and activities as planned throughout the year
Sixth Grade Students
- Student Attends Sunday School and Worship regularly
- Students participates in Field Trip to Dubuque
- Catechumen (with their class) prepares and leads the prayers of the church in worship
- Catechumen serves as Acolyte in assigned month
- Student memorizes the Ten Commandments
- Student participates in special services and activities as planned throughout the year
Seventh Grade Students
- Student Attends Sunday School and Worship regularly
- Student continues the study of the Old and New Testaments in Sunday School
- Student attends 10 week session of evening classes studying "Living as a Community of Faith" and The Lord's Prayer with Lutherans meanings
- Student attends 20 worships and completes 8 sermon notes
- Catechumen completes 6 service projects during the year
- Student participates in all special services and activities as planned throughout the year
Eighth Grade Students
- Student Attends Sunday School and Worship regularly
- Student continues the study of the Old and New Testaments and the Apostle's Creed in Sunday School
- Student attends 10 week session of evening classes studying the Ten Commandments and Luther's Explanations
- Students participates in planning and leading the Thanksgiving Eve worship service
- Student attends the EWALU Fall "Dirty Feet Retreat"
- Student attends 20 worships and completes 8 sermon notes
- Catechumen serves as "reader" in worship
- Student completes 6 service projects during the year
- Student participates in all special services and activities as planned throughout the year

Faith Lutheran offers Sunday School from 8:45 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. on Sundays for grades preschool to 9th grade except during the summer months.

Vacation Bible School
Faith Lutheran invites all children of the community to attend. June 7-11, 2004. Classes are held from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for children ages 3 through 6 grade. Parents and children: Start thinking about friends that you can invite to share in the fun of Vacation Bible School at Faith!
