Dear Patron:
May we tell you about our scholarship foundation? Our community foundation
has awarded 469 scholarships worth $255,670 since our first year,
1993, and the English Valleys students who we have assisted have seen
how strongly we value their education and their futures.
To raise funds, we have sponsored a senior/parent basketball game,
parade entries and a dunk tank at the North English Celebration, softball
tournaments, evenings of Bingo at the Community Center, and booths
at the Winter Carnivals. We released a cookbook of favorite family
recipes and student artwork, and we have cleaned and painted bricks
from the 1913 high school building for sale as mementos. We have also
sponsored golf tournaments and sold soft drinks at community dances.
During the North English sesquicentennial celebration, we had a raffle
for a scale model replica of the 1913 North English High School and
an information booth at the park.
Our most valued source of funds, however, has consistently been through our annual mailings. As we communicate with our patrons and alumni every fall, we are always pleased with the response and support we receive.
We also have seen continued growth in memorial scholarships as families and friends have honored loved ones. Our list of named scholarships has grown steadily, and so has our list of memorial contributions.
It is our goal to provide even more financial aid to our graduates. This can only be done with your assistance. Please consider helping us again to reach our goal.
Respectfully,
Phil Hester, President
Scott Romine, Vice President
Nancy Wilkerson, Secretary
Mary Glaspie, Treasurer
