Biographical Information

State Representative Keith Kreiman represents Iowa's 92nd House District, which encompasses all of Davis and Monroe Counties, the Eastern one-half of Appanoose County (including the city of Centerville and the area East of Highway 5), and Jackson Township (including the city of Milton) in Van Buren County.

Keith was first elected to the Legislature in 1992 and was re-elected in 1994, 1996 and 1998.

Born in Fargo, North Dakota on June 28, 1954, Keith is 44 years old. Keith graduated from Waverly-Shell Rock High School in 1972 and from Ellsworth Community College (Iowa Falls) in 1974. Keith received his education degree (B.A. Ed.) from Seattle University in 1976 and his law degree (J.D.) from the Iowa College of Law in 1978.

Keith and Rose were married in 1984 and are the parents of three daughers: Erin is 13, Krista is 12, and Shanon is 8. The Kreimans live at Route 2, Bloomfield.

In 1988 Keith was a member of the State Democratic Platform Committee. The next year, Keith was elected to the Davis County School Board.

In his years as an attorney, Keith has spent a considerable about of time defending the rights of children in juvenile court. In the Legislature, Keith emphasizes the needs of children and the rights of people who need special care. At the same time, Keith advocates for fiscal responsibility and has voted for the least spending of any Representative during the past six years.

In addition to his duties as ranking member on the House Judiciary Committee (the lead Democrat on that committee), Keith serves on the Education and Human Resources Committees.
