Emergency
Vehicle Preventive Maintenance
Purpose:
1.
To
ensure that City of Eagle Grove Department of E.M.S. vehicles are in proper
working order at all times.
2.
To
avoid delays in transport or responses of ill or injured patients, due to
vehicle failure related to preventable malfunctions.
Procedure:

Each
vehicle shall be inspected at the beginning of each morning and during a Post
Alarm Inspection. The Inspection shall be documented by the crewmembers
performing the inspection.

Each
vehicle will be kept in a clean state at all times.
q
Each
vehicle will be washed weekly.
q
An
authorized retail provider of vehicle maintenance at 3,000 miles, or four-month
increments shall do routine service of each vehicle, whichever comes first.
This service will include, but not be limited to, the following: oil and oil
filter change, engine fluid levels checked, hoses and belts checked, air and
fuel filters checked, tires checked, exhaust and suspension integrity checked.

The
EMS Chief will maintain a log of all-routine maintenance and repairs. The
crewmembers will report any repairs needed, etc. to the EMS Chief. The EMS
Chief will make all appointments for service work or repairs, and will be
responsible for purchasing supplies or equipment.
