Ambulance Response

1.    Unit 99-402 will be the primary response vehicle.

2.    Unit 99-402's minimum staffing will be followed as set forth by the State of Iowa's

Department of Health and the City of Eagle Grove.

A. Minimum of two (2) Emergency Medical Technician-B is on board before responding.

B. Our standard crew will consist of three (3) members.

Note:    If additional personnel are needed, then there needs to be sufficient documentation to support their need (e.g. code 10-50, etc)

C. If an Advanced Medic is present on the unit and all advanced care equipment is available, then we may operate at the appropriate level of care (e.g. Intermediate or Paramedic).

3.    Unit 99-403 will be the secondary response vehicle. It will be utilized for all non-emergencies

Transfers, if 99-402 is on another call or if the crew of 99-402 request additional assistance.

Emergency Medical personnel shall respond and staff 99-403 as follows:

A.  One (1) Emergency Medical Technician-B and a certified driver.

B.   Ideally three (3).

C.   If 99-402 is used to transport a patient to a receiving facility and the patient required a further, non-emergency transfer and time permits, switch units and leave 99-402 for emergency coverage.

4.       When you are dispatched to any rescue alarm, and law enforcement arrives before our unit, and advised unit to disregard (10-22), make note in run report that law enforcement advised such. There is no problem however, if unit is only a few blocks away from the scene to shut down emergency response (lights, siren, and speed) and continue to scene and get a Refusal of Treatment signed by the victim involved. Again, make sure any disregarding in response is documented in run report. We will continue to respond to scene if anyone other than dispatch, law enforcement, or Chief advise differently.

5.        When transporting a patient to Hamilton Hospital, Trinity Regional Hospital or facility greater than 30 miles. The driver needs to contact Wright County Dispatch Center requesting to page additional ambulance crew to take call, until the crew is back in town to assume duties.

6.        Once the crew is back in the county the driver needs to contact Wright County Dispatch Center requesting a page to inform the crew that you are resuming duties.

7.        In the absences of crewmembers tacking secondary call. Have Wright County Dispatch Center contact the closes available State certified Ambulance Company that would be available to take call.
