"FLYBALL ACTION ©"
ASK ME ABOUT IT
BY JUDY HAGAN

1997 has come to an end and 1998 has just begun. As of 9/30/97 there were a total of 5,522 dogs registered with NAFA® and a total of 134 breeds. A good place to check out information on Flyball on the internet is http://muskie.fishnet.com/~flyball/. This page is put out by Ian Hogg from the Happy Hurdlers Flyball team from Minneapolis, Minn.

I'd like to devote the rest of my article to put out some information on a lost dog in the Dallas, Texas area. I hope that everyone out there that reads this is able to pass it on to someone else that doesn't get it and hopefully this dog can be found.

On 12/27/97 Missy Dailey took her five Border Collies and her Jack Russell, Sega, for a run in the park near her East Dallas home. Sega and the other dogs were put in kennels in her car. Missy returned to her home near the intersection of Barnes Bridge and Shiloh road, secured the kennels in the back of the car, left the tailgate open to allow for air circulation and ran in the house for only a couple of minutes. Upon returning to the car she found Sega's kennel on the ground, the door broken, and the little dog nowhere to be found.

Sega, a 13-pound black and white Jack Russell Terrier, was the anchor of the Top Dog Racers. Sega was instrumental in helping the team to win the North American Flyball Association Regional award for 1997.

Given the popularity of "Wishbone", Eddie on "Frasier", and "Mask",team members fear someone has taken or found the dog, believing the trendy Jack Russell makes a great pet. "They can be a very challenging dog to train and live "They can be very challenging dog to train and live with" emphasizes Pam Martin, co-captain of Top Dog Racers and owner of two Jack Russells. "The movie and TV dogs have had years of professional training and have a very specific job to do. Sega's job is flyball.

Sega is 2 years old and neutered and stands 13" tall. He has a slightly wiry white coat, black head and a few tan spots on his checks and eyebrow. He was wearing a blue collar with his name in yellow letters when he vanished. Sega is microchiped but has no tags on at the time of his disappearance. Anyone with information about Sega or his whereabouts should call (972)-279-0801 or (972)278-3985 or contact me. A $500 reward is being offered with no questions asked.
