MCGG 10/15/1996 MASON CITY Mary A. Cahalan Mary A. Cahalan, 74, of Mason City, died Sunday (Oct. 13, 1996) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S.E. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Rockwell. Visitation will begin after 4 p.m. Wednesday at Fullerton-Patterson James Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to Hospice of North Iowa or Newman High School. Mary was born on Aug. 16, 1922, the daughter of Louis and Stella (Schaefer) Brown in Portsmouth, Ohio. Upon graduating from high school, she attended St. Teresa College in Winona, Minn. She later graduated from there and was very proud of that fact. On Feb. 19, 1944, Mary was united in marriage to J. Paul Cahalan. After being married, the couple moved to the Cartersville and Mason City areas where they farmed and raised their family. Mary loved her family and was very interested in all the activities that they were in. She also enjoyed reading and doing some hand crafts. Mary volunteered many hours at North Iowa Mercy Health Center. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Rose-Leo Circle, the Bath Homemakers and the Owen Center Club. Mary is survived by one daughter, Pauline Cahalan of Cedar Hill, Texas; four sons, John and his wife, Dianne of Rockwell; Tom of Bryan, Texas; David and his wife, Kathy, of Clearwater, Fla., and Dan and his wife, Kristi, of Lolo, Mont.; one sister, Ann (Brown) Hesselton of Cleveland, Ohio; one brother, the Rev. F.L. Brown C.S.C. of Notre Dame, Ind.; nine grandchildren, Bill, Maria, Michelle, Tim, Shayne, Keeli, Ian, Mari and Conor Cahalan; and one great-grandson, Adam Cahalan. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, J. Paul.; and one infant son, Martin.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Lois Abel officiating. Burial will be in Olena Mound Cemetery. Tillie Clara Perry was born March 6, 1901, at Coon Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, four brothers and four sisters.

Memorials may be directed to the family in her memory. Marie K. Merfeld was born May 5, 1908, at Scanlon, Minn. Survivors include one son, Joe Merfeld of Nashua; one daughter, Mary Remsden of Colfax; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister.

Survivors include her husband, George Woodring of Hampton; two daughters, Vinya Alahan of Hampton, and Lynn McCallum of Indianola; six grandchildren; and one sister, Nina Gwynne of Omaha, Neb. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the West Des Moines United Methodist Church, West Des Moines. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at McLaren's Funeral Chapel, 801 19th St., West Des Moines. Alva Sibert was born in Williams. The Siberts lived in Mason City from the 1940s to 1975. He lived in Belmond before moving to the Mason City area. Alva was employed at Armour & Company in Mason City for 30-plus years, retiring in 1973. In 1975, they moved to Phoenix, Ariz., and lived there until 1990 when they moved to West Des Moines. He was a member of the West Des Moines United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Celia Sibert of West Des Moines; two sons, Dennis Sibert of West Des Moines, and Arlon Sibert of Las Vegas, Nev.; one daughter, Carol Lievrouw of Arlington, Texas; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one great- great-grandchild; and one sister, Blanche Jergensen of Clarion.
MCGG 10/15/1996 Donald A. Friesleben BELMOND Donald A. Friesleben, 72, of Belmond, died Saturday (Oct. 12, 1996) at the Belmond Health Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Jim Carpenter officiating. Interment will be in the Belmond Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the Tenold Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services at the church. The family suggests memorials to the Donald A. Friesleben Memorial Fund. Donald A. Friesleben was born on Friday, Aug. 8, 1924, in Alexander, to Christal and Emma (Ludtke) Friesleben. He was 2 years old when they moved to a farm east of Belmond. Don was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church. He attended country school and graduated from Belmond High School in 1942. Don was united in marriage to Wilma Johnson on Jan. 8, 1949, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church. Don drove school bus for several years, worked for the Andrew Funeral Home for a number of years and with the Tenold Funeral Home for 14 years. In 1958 Don was chosen by the Jaycees as ``Belmond's Outstanding Young Farmer.'' Don was a member of the Belmond Country Club, which he had served as a board member and president for a term. Don also was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, serving his church in many capacities, including the choir. He farmed all his life until he retired in 1992. He and Wilma purchased a home and moved to Belmond in 1994. He is survived by his wife, Wilma, of Belmond; his sister, Marilyn Grube and her husband, Clair, of Edmonds, Wash.; one nephew, Marty Grube and his wife, Emma; and one grandniece, Megan Grube. Don was preceded in death by his parents.
MCGG 10/15/1996 Leo L. Westfall MASON CITY Leo L. Westfall, 75, of 1624 N. Carolina Place, died Friday (Oct. 11, 1996) at his home after a brief illness. The body was cremated. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. today at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1309 South Kentucky Ave. A meal will be served at the church following the services. Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., is in charge of arrangements. Leo L. Westfall was born Nov. 23, 1920, at rural Lawton, the son of Granville Nash and Alice May (Eckert) Westfall. He attended schools in Sioux City and South Sioux City, Neb., graduating from South Sioux City in 1939. He spent two years in CCC camps, working near and around Humboldt and Dakota City. He joined the Army in May 1940, and was assigned to the 3469th Ordnance Medium Maintenance Company, gaining the grade of Tech 5. He served with honor as a Mechanic Automotive Wheel Vehicle 965 ordnance man in the New Guinea-Bismarck Archipelago with Co. 33, wd 45, from Oct. 12, 1942, until Oct. 8, 1945. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, the American Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. Leo married Alice Loretta Bean on May 24, 1947, at South Sioux City, Neb. He worked at Cudahy Packing House from 1949 to 1954 and for Armour Packing House from 1954 until 1983, first in Sioux City, then in Omaha, and finally in Mason City, where he retired in November of 1983. He was a paper carrier for the Mason City Globe-Gazette for several years where he prided himself on getting his papers out before dawn. Leo resided in Sioux City, Omaha, Neb., and Manly and moved to Mason City in 1970, where he lived until his death. Leo's hobby was people. He enjoyed making new acquaintances, especially at Hy-Vee East, getting to know them, and joking with them whenever they met again. He enjoyed having his children and grandchildren come to visit him, and teasing his grandchildren and the neighbor children. Leo loved people. Leo is survived by his wife of 49 years, Alice (Bean) Westfall of Mason City; three sons, David Westfall and his special friend, Lorel, of Englewood, Colo.; Roy Westfall and his wife, Dawn, of Sugarland, Texas, and Jim Westfall of Lombard, Ill.; four daughters, Julie Westfall of Mason City; Kathy and her husband, Steve Hegwer, of Rosse; Jacky and her husband, Carl Funk, of Chapin; and Barbara and her husband, Charles Richard Jackson Jr., of rural Rockwell. Leo had 22 grandchildren, David's daughter Michelle of Englewood, Colo.; Stephen's daughters, Angel and her husband, Clyde Parker, of Mason City and Susanne Westfall of rural Hanlontown; Kathy's children Laura, Adam and Allison Gregory and Larry Hegwer, all of Rosse; Jacky's children, Carla, Augusta, Robert and William Funk, all of Chapin; Barbara's children, Benjamin, Alicia, Richard, Daniel, Elizabeth, Jacob and Matthew Jackson, all of rural Rockwell; Roy's children, Katie Westfall of Dudley, N.C., and Chloe, Tucker and Emily Westfall of Sugarland, Texas; and one great-grandchild, Michelle's daughter, Aspen Moe of Englewood, Colo. Leo is also survived by one sister, Roberta (Les) Smithers of Las Vegas, Nev.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Inez and Rudy Di Mambro of Dover, N.H., Irene and Chuck Beatty of Portland, Ore., and Betty and Steve Corey of Sioux City; brothers-in-law, Bill and Connie Bean of South Sioux City, Neb., and Tom Bean of Colorado.; a former daughter-in-law, Nancy (Humphreys) Westfall of Dudley, N.C.; two stepgrandchildren, Joe and Kari Hegwer of Rosse; and a stepgreat- grandson, Kyle Hegwer of Rosse.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church, 21 Third St. N.W., Rockford, with the Rev. Rosemary Rohde-Frank officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. today at the Schumburg Funeral Home, 302 W. Main St., where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. There will be further visitation one hour prior to services at the church. Viola Della Jones was born Oct. 10, 1913, in Steamboat Rock. Survivors include four children, Marlene Brallier of Rockford, Russell Kornegor of Coldwater, Ohio, David Paulus of Floyd, and Cathee Anderson of Mason City; two brothers, Henry ``Hank'' Kaiser of Charles City, and Herbert Kaiser of Algona; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Alice Anderson of Waverly. MCGG 10/16/1996 Marie Gruis MESERVEY Marie Gruis, 82, of Meservey, died Monday (Oct. 14, 1996) at the North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the First Reformed Church, Meservey, with the Rev. Rodney Meester, officiating. Burial will be in the Meservey Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Grarup Funeral Home, Meservey. Marie Gruis was born on Jan. 11, 1914, the daughter of Herman and Ida (Reidel) Albers on the family farm near Swaledale. She finished her 12 years of schooling in Swaledale and went on to take a year of bookkeeping and typing. While still on the family farm, she worked for a doctor as a midwife having delivered around 50 babies into the community. In 1944, she moved to Thornton where she became the proud proprietor of a cafe where she did the majority of the cooking all day long. Five years later, she moved to Meservey, where she purchased a grocery store. A few years into its operation, she constructed a new building to operate out of until 1976, when she sold the business and retired. During that time, she was united in marriage to Ben Gruis in 1956. Following the death of her husband, approximately two months after their marriage, she managed to talk her way, as a single, working and widowed woman, into adopting a set of twins, age 12, from the orphanage on July 10, 1961. After raising them, she proceeded to become a foster parent of two girls. Once she had her family raised, she continued to babysit for children from 1976 to 1980. Marie enjoyed raising flowers, riding her stationary bicycle 20 minutes each day and entertaining her family and friends. Her hobbies included doing embroidery work, making afghans and lap blankets for the residents of Opportunity Village in Clear Lake. She was a member of the First Reformed Church of Meservey. She is survived by one son, Leslie Gruis of Meservey; three daughters, Jessie Sage and her husband, Donald, of Mason City, Mary Burgardt of Greensboro, N.C., and Sara Ansley of Cedar Falls; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Albers of Mason City, and Martin Albers of Hubbard, Ore.; one sister, Lydia Danneman of Folda, Minn. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and two brothers.

James Patrick Keough MASON CITY James Patrick Keough I, 73, of 722 15th St. N.E., died Tuesday (Oct. 15, 1996) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Grace United Methodist Church, 200 14th St. N.W., with the Rev. Herbert G. Shafer officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association. Visitation will begin after 4 p.m. today at the Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., and one hour prior to the services on Thursday at the church. James Patrick Keough was born March 8, 1923, in Britt, son of Thomas and Loretta (Schlickmann) Keough. He married Marvel Veonne Arhart on Nov. 28, 1947, in Austin, Minn. James graduated in 1941 from Crystal Lake High School. He served as a sergeant in the Marines during World War II and was stationed in Pearl Harbor. Jim farmed in Thornton for a few years before moving to Mason City. He worked at Armour Food for 30 years until retiring in 1979. He and his wife also owned and operated N & M Lunch for 10 years. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed gardening, feeding and watching birds and squirrels in his yard and camping. He loved to eat ice cream. James was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Disabled American Veterans. He was a former member of the Eagles. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Blau and her husband, Daniel, Forest City, and Jacqueline Reich and her husband, Keith, Mason City; three sons, Michael James Keough and his wife, Tina, Grandview, Mo., Terry Douglas Keough and his wife, Nancy, Mason City, and Joseph Allen Keough and his wife, LeeAnn, Mason City; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Loretta Long and her husband, Stanley, Thornton, and Mary Morrissey, Wyoming, Ill.; three brothers, Thomas Keough and his wife, Elinore, Missouri, William Keough and his wife, Carol, Fertile, and Joseph Keough and his wife, Aileen, Forest City; one half brother, Kenneth Chapman, California; his foster mother, Helen Peterson, Northwood; and two special family members, Michael Odom, Manly, and Dale Hertel, Mason City. There will be no visitation. The body will be cremated. Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be given to the I.O.O.F. Home or donor's choice in her memory. Evelyn L. Jahns was born March 12, 1903, in Burlington, Wis., the daughter of Joseph C. and Ella Bartholf Salisbury. Evelyn graduated from Burlington High School and the American School of Physcial Education in Chicago. She lived in Burlington for 55 years, moved to Idaho and lived there for 30 years, and in 1985, moved to Mason City. Evelyn was a member of the Plymouth Congregational Church in Burlington, Wis., past matron of Eastern Star, and sang in the church choir. She was a member of the Boles Arrow Travel Club and enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Green and her husband, Myron, of Mason City; one son, Robert W. Jahns of Anacortes, Wash.; one grandson; three great-grandsons; and one sister, Pearl Bornholt of Walworth, Wis. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one granddaughter.
MCGG 10/16/1996 Viola Mae Nodland CLEAR LAKE Viola Mae Nodland, 87, of 2405 S. Third St., Clear Lake, died Monday (Oct. 14, 1996) at the I.O.O.F. Home, Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Kermit Roisen officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake. The family suggests memorials in her name. Viola was born Feb. 5, 1909, in Decatur, Ill., the daughter of Lyman and Minnie (Hart) McCauley. At the age of five, she moved with her parents to Webster City, where she attended school. On July 25, 1955, she married Thomas Nodland in Canton, S.D. The couple farmed in the Rockwell area for three years, then in the Klemme area for 18 years. The couple moved to Clear Lake on May 1, 1978. Viola was a loving mother and wife who especially loved cooking for her family. She enjoyed her church and working with other women there. She was noted for her lefse making and cherished a trip she made to Norway. In addition to travel, she also liked music, gardening on the farm and quilting at her church. She would often give her quilts to family and friends. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake and the Do Day Club. She is survived by her husband, Thomas, of Clear Lake; a daughter, Bertha Takle and her husband, Charles, of Webster City; a son, Rodger Roberts Sr. and his wife, Sharlene, of Laurel; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the First Congregational Church, with the Rev. Thomas Healey officiating. Burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., and one hour prior to service time on Friday at the church. The family of Frida Lillian Mosher has requested that memorial contributions be made in her memory. Frida Lillian Mosher was born Jan. 27, 1910, in Elberon, the daughter of Louis and Andrea (Sorensen) Andersen. She spent her childhood and high school years in Dumont, where she received her education, graduating from Dumont High School in 1927. She also attended cosmetology school in Rockford and became licensed in 1928. She was united in marriage to Clare E. Mosher on July 9, 1928, in Hampton. He preceded her in death on June 2, 1964. During her life, she was a self-employed cosmetologist and beautician and worked for various other beauty shops for 60 years until her retirement in 1980. From 1930 until 1935, she lived in Mason City; 1935 until 1936, Rockford; from 1936 until 1937, Fairmont, Minn.; 1937 to 1944 in Sac City, moving to Clear Lake in 1944 where she made her home until moving to the Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake in May 1992 until January 1994 when she became a resident of the Oakwood Care Center in Mason City. Frida practiced cosmetology for many years in Rockford, Mason City, Fairmont, Minn., Sac City, and Clear Lake. She also enjoyed working with her husband, Clare, who was a movie theater manager for 32 years. She belonged to several card clubs in Clear Lake, and also enjoyed playing bingo. She was also a member of the First Congregational Church, Rebekah Lodge and the Wa-Tan-Ye Club, all in Clear Lake. She was a very devoted mother and grandmother and her family was always very special to her. Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Ronald Mosher and his wife, Donna, of Hudson, Wis., and Dennis Mosher and his wife, Delores, of Clear Lake; one brother, Rudolph Andersen of Minneapolis, Minn.; one sister, Thelma Riveness of Felton, Calif.; a granddaughter, Rochelle Kracht and her husband, Jeff, of Clear Lake; two grandsons, Monte Mosher and his wife, Dorcey, of Des Moines, and Dean Mosher and his wife, Hollie, of Clear Lake; a granddaughter, Mona Ellison and her husband, Don, of Bothell, Wash.; three stepgranddaughters, Lydia Drexler of St. Paul, Minn.; Laurie LaBelle and her husband, Joe, of Minneapolis, Minn.; and Ann Scanlon and her husband, Scott, of Cottage Grove, Minn.; seven great-grandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many friends. He farmed from 1946 to 1963 and became an auctioneer and real estate agent in 1954. He taught auctioneering for many years in Mason City and operated Harden Realty until his health failed. He was president of the Mason City Greater Board of Realtors in 1986. Elmer and Wanda operated the Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream Store in Mason City from 1967 until 1985. They also owned the Bell Motel from 1977 until 1991. Elmer gave his life to the Lord when he was 9 years old. He was licensed as a Baptist Lay minister in 1966 serving many churches in the area in all phases of church work. Cataldo Funeral Home, Garner, is in charge of arrangements. Rosella Mae ``Sally'' Frampton, the daughter of Harry and Esther (Svendsen) Nelson was born Nov. 20, 1935, on Church Hill Farm near Fiscus. She grew up on Church Hill Farm and attended Polk #7 country school through eighth grade and then graduated from Harlan High School in 1954. She received her registered nursing degree from the Jennie Edmundson School of Nursing in 1957 at Council Bluffs and then her B.S. degree from Omaha University at Omaha, Neb. On June 25, 1958, she was united in marriage to Jerome W. Frampton at Merrills Grove Baptist Church in Fiscus. Two sons and two daughters were born to this union. They lived in Minneapolis, Minn., for two years, Waverly for 17 years, and Clear Lake for 18 years. Sally devoted her life to her husband, family, and to her faith in Jesus Christ. Together Sally and Jerome shared many special vacations in Colorado. Through flower arranging, music, crafts (sewing, cornhusk dolls and miniatures), cooking and baking, she touched the lives of many people. Church activities included playing the piano and organ, leading Bible studies, serving on boards, and teaching children's Sunday school classes, for which she received the National Sunday School Teacher of the Year Award in 1967. Sally's passion for teaching piano for over 30 years to hundreds of students lives on through the lives of her students. Her dedication to music education led to earning a Master Teacher Certification from the Iowa Music Teacher's Association in 1994. She was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Clear Lake. Other organizations of which she was a member include the Iowa Music Teacher's Association, Music Teacher's National Association, Music Teacher's of North Iowa and the Waverly Garden Club. Sally will be truly missed by her husband, Jerome W. Frampton, of Clear Lake; four children, Steven Frampton and his wife, Lisa, of Woodbury, Minn.; Mark Frampton and his wife, Renee, of Parker, Colo.; Susan Hjelseth and her husband, Richard, of St. Paul, Minn., and Julie Anderson and her husband, Dennis, of Wheaton, Ill.; one granddaughter, Carlie Alyn Frampton; two sisters, Bonnie Burton and her husband, Robert, of Irwin; and Luetta Moore of Harlan; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mildred Ione Swartwood was born on May 27, 1912, in Stanwood, the daughter of William and Anna (Yule) Zimmerman. She was baptized at the Red Oak Grove Church in Cedar County, Iowa, in 1921. She attended Tipton High School graduating in 1930. She was united in marriage to Vernon Lamp in Tipton and to this union was born one daughter, Bonnie. She was united in marriage to Charles Reap and moved to Monroe Center, Ill., where together they ran a dairy farm, and to this union was born three daughters, Caryn Ringoen, Dawn Thofson and Cheryl Reap. She was united in marriage to Donald Swartwood and moved to Northwood in 1961, where she was a cook, and was a bus driver for several years at the Northwood-Kensett Community Schools and also worked for several years at the Coast-to-Coast store in Northwood until her retirement in 1977. She was a member of the Northern Light Order of the Eastern Star A.F. & A.M. #262 in Northwood, and the Northwood United Methodist Church. Left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Bonnie Hilliard and her husband, Fred, of Grand Junction, Colo.; Caryn Ringoen of Albert Lea, Minn., and Dawn Thofson and her husband, Steven, of Northwood; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and friends. Betty enjoyed sewing and having coffee with her friends. She was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church and had served on circles in the past. She will be greatly missed by all. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Immanual Reformed United Church of Christ, Klemme, with the Rev. Georgia White-Kisslring officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., and one hour before services at the church. The family suggests memorials to the Karolyn ``Kaye'' Trampel Memorial Fund. Kaye was born Sept. 24, 1939, in Webster City, the daughter of Lawrence and Lucille (Murphy) Dickerson. She graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1958. She married Ron Trampel on Feb. 26, 1958, in the Evangelical Free Church, Clear Lake. They lived in Sioux City from 1959 to 1965. Kaye and Ron then moved to Clear Lake where they have lived ever since. She worked at various jobs in the Clear Lake area. Kaye enjoyed shopping, going to garage sales, and spending time with her grandchildren. Kay has been battling with illness for over eight years and during that time, she loved to read novels and listen to tapes. Even during her illness, Kaye never lost her sense of humor. She was a member of the Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ, Klemme. Kaye is survived by her husband, Ron Trampel of Clear Lake; three children, Les Trampel and his wife, Bev; Kim Anderson and her husband, Scott, all of Clear Lake, and Jonathan Trampel and his wife, Melissa, of Graham, Wash.; two sisters, Janette Blanchard and her husband, Paul, of Newton, and Connie Jo Roberts of Waverly; two brothers, Gary Dickerson and his wife, Susan, of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Larry Dickerson of Mason City; and six grandchildren, Bret Ennen, Alyssa Ennen, Elizabeth Trampel, Justin Anderson, Heather Jo Anderson and Alexsandra Trampel.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First nited Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia Ave., with the Rev. Merlin Ackerson and the Rev. Sharon Betsworth officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials may be given to the Colleen A. Jorgensen Memorial Fund. Colleen Jorgensen was born April 5, 1933, in Glendon, the daughter of James and Florence (DuPuy) Mains. Colleen married Kenneth Jorgensen on July 7, 1951, at Guthrie Center. Colleen worked 23 years at the North Iowa Area Community College bookstore. She was a charter member and past president of the Government Postal Employees Union Auxiliary. Colleen was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, where she was a member of Sarah Circle as well as the Friday morning Bible study group. Colleen was involved in scouting leadership for 14 years, enjoyed historical home tours, dolls and doll houses, crafts, reading, poetry, camping, and being with her family, because her family was always first. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Jorgensen of Mason City; daughters, Pam Gessford and her husband, Dick, of Friendship, Md.; Pat Repp and her husband, Mark, of Mason City, and Peggy Schultz and her husband, Kevin, of Mason City; sons, Ken Jorgensen II and his wife, Debbie, of Mason City, and Curt Jorgensen and his wife, Holly, of Mason City; 10 grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; brothers, Louis, Bill, George, Ward and Frank; sisters, Alberta and Emmy; and many nieces and nephews; as well as a very close friend, Marlene Oswood. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Betty; three brothers-in-law; and one sister-in-law.

She is survived by two sons, Ronald Richter of College Station, Texas, and Russell Richter of Elmore, Minn.; two daughters, Darlene Joyce of Emmetsburg, and Deanna Richter of Fenton; four grandchildren; and three sisters, Ella Govern and Lorene Trenary, both of Bancroft, and Agatha Steinberg of Ledyard. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and one sister.
MCGG 10/19/1996 Maxine C. Leighty ADRIAN, Minn. Mrs. Maxine C. Leighty, 84, of Adrian, and former resident of Manly, Iowa, died Friday (Oct. 4, 1996) at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, 1996, at the Adrian United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Arthur Miller officiating. Organist was Diane Honnerman with special music by the Rev. Art and Sherry Miller. Lorey Winter Greene, granddaughter of Mrs. Leighty, spoke special words during the service. Graveside memorial services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Greenwood Cemetery in Glenville, with the Rev. Emma Holm officiating. Lunch was served family and friends at the United Methodist Church in Glenville, following the service. Maxine was born Oct. 19, 1911, in Glenville, to Pardon H. Cottrell and Inez White Cottrell. She attended the Glenville and Albert Lea schools. On Jan. 12, 1929, she was married to Robert M. Leighty and they resided in Glenville moving to Manly, Iowa, in 1942. She worked as a postal clerk in the Glenville Post Office from 1939-1941 and while living in Manly, Iowa, she owned and operated the Bobby-Mac Dress Shop from 1959-1962. Mrs. Leighty was active in the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen Ladies Auxiliary, serving several years as its president and secretary, and in 1972, was the first appointed Ladies Auxiliary Legislative Director for Iowa and worked with the United Transportation Union. She was a member of Heather Hill Order of Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron in 1960 and holding several other offices through the years. She was a member of the Adrian United Methodist Church and a former member of the Bethel United Methodist Church in Manly, Iowa. She moved from Manly, Iowa, in 1978 to Yuma, Ariz., where she lived until 1987 when she returned to Manly. When her health began to fail her, she moved to Adrian a couple of years ago and resided in an apartment to be closer to her daughter and family. She is survived by her daughter, Vaughn Winter and her husband, Edmund Winter, of Adrian; and son, Gary Leighty and his wife, Andree, of Junction City, Calif. Also surviving are grandchildren, Jacque Leighty and his wife, Martha, and Robert Leighty, all of Columbus, Ohio; Brooke Winter and his wife, Tricia, of Gilbert, Ariz., Lorey Winter Greene, of Cottage Grove, Minn., and Melissa Winter of Minnetonka; and four great-grandsons, Ethan Winter of Gilbert, Ariz., Conrad, Kaleb and Gabriel Greene, of Cottage Grove. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Leighty; a daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Leighty; and a great-grandson, Jared Brooke Winter. Maxine lived life to its fullest. She enjoyed family and friends and her vacations in Arizona. She was special to many people and will be greatly missed.
