Susie Jo Zeller, 61, of Ottosen, died Tuesday (June 13, 1995) at 
the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.  Funeral services 
will be held at  10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 
St. Joe, with the Rev. Paul E. Eisele officiating.  Burial will be 
in St. Joseph Cemetery.  Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today at 
the Wilson Funeral Home, Algona, with a 3 p.m. rosary, a 7:30 p.m. 
Scripture service and an 8 p.m. parish rosary. There will be 
further visitation at 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, 
with a 9:50 a.m. family prayer service.

Susie Jo Zeller was born May 24, 1934, in Kossuth County.

Survivors include her husband, Bernard Zeller of Ottosen; two 
daughters, Bette Banford of Des Moines and Barbara Grandstaff 
of Ruthven; one son, Jim Zeller of Ottosen; one granddaughter; 
five sisters, Annie Wagner, Margaret Rezabeck and Kathryn Aman, 
all of Algona; Florence Frahm of Humboldt, and Genevieve Klein 
of Dakota City; and three brothers, Nick Wagner and Billie Wagner, 
both of Algona, and Joe Wagner of Wesley.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

James Barber, 75, of Charles City, died Monday (June 12, 1995) 
at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.  Funeral 
services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist 
Church, Charles City, with the Rev. Robin Stoops officiating.  

Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery, Austin, Minn.

Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Hauser Funeral Home, 
1205 S. Main St., and one hour prior to services on Thursday at 
the church.

James Halman Barber was born Sept. 2, 1919, at Gordonsville, Minn.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Barber of Charles City; a daughter, 
Lynda Bucknell of Thornton; two brothers, Lloyd Barber of Dodge Center, 
Minn., and David Barber of Blooming Prairie, Minn.; five sisters, 
Carol Oakland of Glenville, Minn.; Ethel Hoffman of  
Blooming Prairie, Minn.; Laura Raymon of Hollandale, Minn.; 
Shirley Giles of Albert Lea, Minn., and Mae Schneider of 
Blooming Prairie, Minn.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one stepson, two sisters 
and one brother in infancy.

Ara Edna Allan
NORTHWOOD 

Funeral services for Ara Edna Allan, 96, of Sumner, formerly of 
Northwood, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist 
Church, Northwood, with the Rev. Dennis Nicholson officiating. 
Interment will be in Sunset Rest Cemetery, Northwood.  Friends may 
call from 10 a.m. to noon today at the Hillcrest Home Chapel in 
Sumner.  They may also call one hour before service time on 
Thursday at the United Methodist Church, Northwood.

Ara Edna, daughter of Arthur E. Finch and Edna (nee) Whitney Finch, 
was born Dec. 30, 1898, at Kensett. She lived her early years on 
a farm in Northwood and received her education in the Northwood 
schools.

On Dec. 3, 1919, she was united in marriage with Robert Allan 
at St. Paul, Minn. After her marriage, she and her husband lived 
in Waterloo and Manly.
 
Following her husband's death on June 30, 1934, she returned to 
Northwood where she  resided until 1987, when she moved to Sumner. 
In March of 1990, she entered the Hillcrest Home in Sumner.

Ara's death occurred at Hillcrest on Monday evening (June 12, 1995) 
following a lengthy illness.  She was 96 years old and had been a 
lifelong member of the United Methodist Church in Northwood. 

She had been a 50-year member of the O.E.S. in Northwood, where she 
had been a member since 1939. She was also a special member of the 
United Methodist Women.

She is survived by one son, Dr. Robert Allan and his wife, Marge, 
of Arlington; one daughter, Inez Becker and her husband, Wilbert 
of Sumner; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, 
Dorothy Shaw of Northwood; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents; she was preceded in death 
by two brothers, Cyril Finch and Wight Finch; and one sister, 
Arlene Stoddard.

Grover H. Galvin, 79, a longtime Rockford resident, died Sunday 
(June 11, 1995) at Sun City, Ariz., following a brief illness. A 
memorial service was held Wednesday (June 14, 1995) at Sunland 
Memorial Chapel in Sun City, Ariz.  A second memorial service is 
planned for a later date in Rockford.

Grover H. Galvin was born Aug. 4, 1915, in Rockford.

Survivors include his wife, Sadie Galvin of Sun City, Ariz.; 
two sons, Dennis Galvin of Findley, Ohio, and Gary Galvin of 
Phoenix, Ariz.; one brother, Dean Galvin of Brevard, N.C.; 
two granddaughters; and one great-grandson.

Gertie T. Marshall, 83, of Dows, died Tuesday (June 13, 1995) at 
the Clarion Community Hospital.  Funeral services will be held at 
1 p.m. Friday at the Willim Funeral Home in Clarion, with the 
Rev. Charles Kellogg officiating.  Burial will be in El Township 
Cemetery in Klemme.  Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today at 
the Willim Funeral Home with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.

Gertie T. Marshall was born March 21, 1912, in Kamrar, Iowa.

Survivors include one sister, Esther Carolus of Clarion; and 
two brothers, John Trampel of Clarion, and Elmer Trampel of Alexander.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother.

LELAND  

Gordon Reimann, 66, Leland, died Tuesday (June 13, 1995) at the 
Muse Norris Hospice Unit, Mason City.  Funeral services will be held 
at 1:30 p.m. Friday at West Prairie Lutheran Church, Leland, with 
the Rev. Dan Christensen officiating. Burial will be in West Prairie 
Lutheran Cemetery, with military rites by the Leland VFW Post 6161.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Lund 
Funeral Home, Forest City.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa or a charity of 
your choice.

Gordon Charles Reimann, the son of 
George Reimann and Theressa (nee) Bakken Reimann, was born on 
July 1, 1928, in Pontiac, Mich.  Since the age of 2, Gordon had 
lived in the Leland area most of his life. 

He was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in 
Leland.  He attended local schools and graduated from Forest City 
High School in 1946.  He served in the United States Army during 
the Korean Conflict, from 1950 to 1952.

On June 14, 1953, he was united in marriage to Marlas Peterson 
at the West Prairie Lutheran Church.  As an active member of 
West Prairie, Gordon served on the church council, various 
committees and as a custodian for 24 years.  Following his 
military service, he worked for the Ford Garage; nine years 
at Thermo King in Denver, Colo.; and 21 years at Winnebago 
Industries in Forest City. He was a member of the Leland VFW 
Post 6161. 

He is survived by his wife, Marlas Reimann of Leland; four sons 
and their spouses, Kent and Lori of Ames; Jan and Julie of Johnston;  
Tracy and Barbara of Savage, Minn.; and Steven and Colette of 
Leland; also 11 grandchildren, Tory, Christopher, Alexander, 
Justin, Jennifer, Jay, Jamie, Jacob, Ravyn, Cody and Whitli; 
two half-sisters and their spouses, Marilyn and Bill Ranch of 
Littleton, Colo., and Carol and David Cusick of Kalispell, Mont.; 
two stepsisters, Helen Bailey of Waverly and Jessie Bennett of Rudd; 
numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Gordon was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather; and 
a half-sister, Delores.

Donald Eugene Oberhauser, 64, of McComb, died Tuesday (June 13, 1995) 
at the Veterans Hospital in Jackson.  Funeral services were held at 
11 a.m. Friday (June 15, 1995) at St. Mary of The Pines, in Chatawa,  
with Father Rich Smith officiating.  Burial was in St. Mary of 
The Pines Cemetery.

Catchings Funeral Home, 506 Maryland Ave., McComb, was in charge 
of arrangements.

Donald Oberhauser was born April 6, 1930, in Black Hawk County, 
Iowa, to Aloysius Oberhauser and Julia (nee) Becker Oberhauser.  
He was a veteran in the United States Marine Corps and served in the 
Korean War.  He was a retired farmer and federal meat inspector for 
the U.S.  Department of Agriculture.  He was a member of the St. James 
Mission Catholic Church in Magnolia.

He is survived by his wife, Amrion Oberhauser of McComb; three 
sons, Michael of Waterloo, Iowa; John of San Clemente, Calif., 
and Thomas of Centreville; two daughters, Patricia Anderson of 
Salem, Iowa, and Theresa Balouch of McComb; two brothers, Henry 
of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Bernard of Laporte City, Iowa; three 
sisters, Lillian Taylor of Summit; Betty Johannsen of Laporte City, 
Iowa, and Helen Schweer of Grimes, Iowa;  and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Dr. Seth G. Walton
HAMPTON 

Dr. Seth G. Walton, 87, of Hampton, passed away Wednesday 
(June 14, 1995) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason 
City.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the 
Hampton United Methodist Church in Hampton.  Friends may call from 
5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton.

Dr. Seth G. Walton was born Oct. 2, 1907, to 
William Walton and Mae (nee) Oler Walton.  He attended rural 
schools and graduated from Dows High School in Dows, Iowa.  He 
then attended Iowa State Teachers College and taught for one year 
in Wright County schools.  He went back to school at Iowa State 
Teachers College and taught for one year in Washta, Iowa, where he 
coached an undefeated, untied football team in Washta.

Dr. Seth Walton was married to Evelyn Bradley on Jan. 19, 1933, 
in Toledo, Ill. while he was still in medical school.  To this 
union was born three children, Betty, Bill and Richard.

Dr. Seth G. Walton attended the University of Iowa, where he 
received his medical degree in 1933. He did a rotating internship 
at the University Hospitals in Iowa City for one year.  He was a 
surgical resident at Marine Hospital in Chicago, Ill., and came 
to Hampton to practice in 1936 until 1942 when he enlisted in the 
Army Medical Corps in April 1942.
 
He spent 38 months in surgical service and headed a general surgical 
team from D-Day to VE-Day following General Patton's Army.

He entered the Army as a first lieutenant and came out a lieutenant 
colonel. He then returned to Hampton, Iowa, in 1945 to practice in 
the Hampton Clinic until he retired in 1974.  Dr. Seth G. Walton was 
certified by the American College of Surgeons and the International 
College of Surgeons.  He was a 50-year member of the American Legion 
and Rotary Club and more than 50 years as a member of the Iowa State 
Medical Society.  He was also a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge 
and a member of the Cerro Gordo County Medical Society.  He spent 
one day a month as an instructor at the Family Practice Center in 
Mason City.

Dr. Seth G. Walton is survived by one daughter, 
Mrs. Richard (Betty) Gale of Santa Fe, N.M.; and one son, 
Richard Walton, and his wife, Katie Walton, of Manhatten, N.Y.; 
and two sisters, Dotha Evans of Austin, Minn., and June Boyington 
of Hampton, Iowa; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mae; 
his wife, Evelyn Walton; one infant child, Bill; two sisters, 
Hazel Olson and Ottsie Trousdale; and two brothers, Faye Walton 
and Glenn Walton.

Eugene R. Carter

Eugene R. Carter, 72, of Kanawha died Tuesday (June 13, 1995) at 
the Kanawha Nursing Home.  Funeral services will be held at 
10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Kanawha Lutheran Church, with the 
Rev. David Lee officiating. A graveside service will be held 
at 3 p.m. at the Riverside Cemetery at Spencer, Iowa.  Visitation 
will be held from noon until 6 p.m. Friday at the Kanawha Lutheran 
Church.  Willim Funeral Home of Clarion is in charge of arrangements.

Eugene R. Carter was born April 30, 1923, at Dickens, Iowa, the 
son of Leonard Carter and Mae (nee) Jones Carter.  
He graduated from Dickens High School in 1940.  During World War II, 
he served with the United States Navy. He graduated from the College 
of Mortuary Science in St. Louis, Mo., in 1949.

Gene was united in marriage with Patricia Heick on Sept. 7, 1952. 
He later married Shirley Quinn.

Gene worked for Nelson-Berger Funeral Home in Sioux City for two 
years and then was in LuVerne, Minn., for five years returning to 
Iowa with the Huffman Funeral Home at Glidden.  In 1962, he purchased 
the funeral home and furniture business in Kanawha and in 1972 
acquired a funeral home in Britt. He retired in 1985.  He was a member 
of the Kanawha Lutheran Church, American Legion, ABC Club, past 
Kanawha School board member and remained active in community affairs 
after his retirement. He was also a Mason and a former member of 
the Britt Rotary Club. He was a longtime member of the Iowa 
Funeral Directors Association and District #8.

Those left to cherish his memory are his four children, 
Bruce Carter and his wife, Faith, of Peoria, Ill., Todd Carter 
and his wife, Luann of Waterville, Kan., Jane Wellik and her 
husband, Philip of Wausau, Wis., and Ann Baier and her husband, 
Mark of Iowa Falls; eight grandsons, one granddaughter and 
several nieces and nephews.

Those preceding him in death are his parents and one sister, 
Mary Alice Rouse.

Anna F. Walsh, 84, of 1601 14th St. N.W., Rochester, formerly of 
Mason City, Iowa, died Wednesday (June 14, 1995) at St. Mary's 
Hospital following a brief illness.  A funeral Mass will be held 
at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rochester, 
with the Rev. John Wilmot officiating.  Burial will be in the 
Calvary Cemetery in Rochester.  Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. 
Friday at Macken Funeral Home, 1105 12th St. S.E., Rochester, with 
a 7 p.m. prayer service.

Anna F. Walsh was born Jan. 9, 1911, at Rochester, Minn., where 
she was raised.   Ref: Anna F. (nee) Clemens

She was united in marriage to Francis S. Walsh on June 17, 1933.  She 
and her husband continued to live in Rochester until moving to 
Mason City in 1951.  She worked in the purchasing department at 
St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Mason City from 1951 until 1966.  She 
moved back to Rochester in 1966, a year after her husband's death 
and worked in the purchasing department of St. Mary's Hospital 
until 1976.

She then began working at Davies Printing as part of the office 
staff where she continued to work until she was 80.  She was an 
active member of the Rochester Senior Citizens Center and an avid 
bridge player. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church.

She is survived by one son, Leonard F. Walsh, of North Oaks, 
Minn.; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters, 
Elizabeth Clemens of Rochester, Minn., Sister Ann Clemens 
(Franciscan nun), of Rochester, and Agnes Hauser, of Seal Beach, 
Calif.; and one brother, Joseph Clemens, of Rochester, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis, in 1965, and 
two sons, James Walsh and Joseph Walsh.

Agnes Kathryn Larson

Agnes K. Larson, 84, of Garner, died Wednesday (June 14, 1995) at 
the Concord Care Center, Garner.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the 
Faith Lutheran Church, Miller, with the Rev. Owen Gaasedelen 
officiating. Burial will be in Ellington Prairie Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the 
Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 East Fourth St., Garner.

Agnes Kathryn Larson, the daughter of 
Peter Johnson and Julia (nee) Halverson Johnson was born 
Aug. 25, 1910, on a farm in Ellington Township.

She was baptized and confirmed at the Ellington Lutheran Church 
and attended Ellington Township School #6.

After graduating from Ventura High School in 1927, she worked for 
the families of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Eyman and Dr. T. J. Irish.

On Oct. 24, 1930, she was united in marriage to Clifford E. Larson 
at Fort Dodge. The couple made their home at the Larson home place 
in Ellington Township.

Agnes worked as a cook for the Concord Care Center for 20 years.

Following her husband's death on April 24, 1989, she continued to 
live on the home place until moving to Concord Care Center in 
February of 1995.

She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church where she was active in 
the Church Circle and the Ladies' Aid.  She was also in TOPS and the 
Birthday Club.  Agnes loved to cook and spend time with her family.  
She also enjoyed embroidering and crocheting.

She is survived by a son, Richard D. Larson and his wife, Deloris, 
of Garner; a daughter, Marlys Ennis and her husband, Richard, of 
Mason City; a daughter-in-law, Merry Stroud of Indianola; 
16 grandchildren; Pat Goerner and her husband, John, of 
Austin, Texas, Betty Jo Gustafson and her husband, Tim, of 
Minneapolis, Minn., Sally Larson of Forest City, Chuck Larson of 
Clear Lake, Bob Larson and his wife, Renee, of Memphis Tenn., 
Julie Cooper and her husband, Dave, of Mason City, Nancy Lee 
and her husband, Bert, of Mason City, Kathy Bracken and her 
husband, Rob of Placerville, Calif., Peggy Pitzenberger and her 
husband, Rick, of Mason City, Mary Miller and her husband, Jay, 
of Mason City, Jodi Ennis and her fiancee, Brent Fisher, of 
Minneapolis, John Larson and his wife, Diane, of Indianola, 
Mark Larson of Indiana, Brett Larson and his wife, Charlene, of

Zion Lutheran Church officiating.

There is no visitation. Petersen Lund Funeral Home is in charge 
of arrangements.

Willa Bergstad was born March 17, 1918, in Thompson.

Survivors include one sister, Caroline Bakka of Clearwater, Fla., 
and one brother, Sam Bergstad of Concord, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and

Brian Wayne Scranton, 22,  of Apache Junction, Ariz., formerly of 
Washington, Iowa, and Charles City, Iowa, died Monday 
(June 12, 1995) at Apache Junction.  Funeral services will be held 
at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. James Catholic Church in Washington, 
with the Rev. Dennis Martin officiating.  Burial will be in 
Elm Grove Cemetery.  Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at 
the Jones Funeral Home, 116 E. Main St., Washington, with the 
family receiving friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m.  There will be an 
8 p.m. prayer service.

Brian Wayne Scranton was born May 6, 1973, in Muscatine to 
Paul Scranton and Joyce (nee) Lukavsky Scranton.  Paul 
attended schools in Washington, Iowa, and graduated from 
Charles City High School in 1991.  Paul served in the United 
States Air Force during Operation Desert Storm.  He was very 
active in the Boy Scouts.  He was employed by Safeway Food Stores 
in Apache Junction, Ariz., at the time of his death.

He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Washington and 
Immaculate Conception Church in Charles City.

He is survived by his parents, Paul and Joyce Scranton of 
Indianola; a sister, Lisa Marie Scranton of Wilton, Conn.; his 
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Scranton of Washington; and 
his stepgrandmother, Margaret Lukavsky of Washington.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Edwin Lukavsky.

A general memorial fund has been established.

Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 
1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Blanche Mavis (Nyhus) Hermanson was born Sept. 27, 1912, on a 
farm northwest of Leland, the daughter of Henry L. Nyhus and 
Clara (nee) Charlson Nyhus.  She was baptized at Winnebago 
Lutheran Church and confirmed at West Prairie Lutheran Church.  
She received her education in the schools of Winnebago County 
and attended Waldorf College.

She worked for many years at the Irish Hospital and later for the 
Forest City Hospital and also for Dr. Charles Porter, at his 
residence.  In later years, she cared for the elderly in their 
homes and provided loving care for young children.  After her 
mother's death in 1938, she took on the responsibilities of the 
home for her father, caring for her two brothers and a sister.
 
She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City, 
the Circle and the 20th Century Club.

She was married to Richard Hermanson of Lake Mills on April 22, 1962, 
at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.  The couple made their home 
in Forest City for their entire married lives.  Richard died in 1991. 
Mavis entered the Good Samaritan Center.

She is survived by a brother and his wife, Vernon and Elaine Nyhus 
of Mason City; three sisters, Fern Hirt of Coralville; 
Hazel Ingebretson of Hannibal, Mo., and Jane Lopez of Santa Barbara, 
Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.

Mavis was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and 
two brothers, Harry Nyhus and Richard Nyhus.

NORTHWOOD 

Carol Guida Junis Rugland, 82, of rural Northwood, died Friday 
(June 16, 1995) at the Lutheran Retirement Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at 
Silver Lake Lutheran Church, rural Northwood, with the 
Rev. Randy Nielsen officiating. Burial will be in the 
Silver Lake Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Conner Colonial Chapel, 
99-11th St., and one hour prior to services at the church.

Carol Guida Junis Rugland was born June 25, 1912, in rural 
Freeborn County near Albert Lea, Minn.

Survivors include her husband, Alfred Rugland of Northwood; 
two sons, Archie Rugland and Arlow Rugland, both of Northwood; 
three grandchildren; and one sister, Thea Siebrecht of Northwood.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.

Lance Chronkite Morton, 39, died Wednesday (June 14, 1995) at his home.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday (June 17, 1995) 
at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with the Rev. T.J. Norman, the 
Rev. Joyce Guldager and the Rev. John Otto officiating.  Burial 
was in Coulter Cemetery.

Visitation was from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Sietsema-Vogel Funeral 
Home, Hampton.

Lance Chronkite Morton was born Sept. 21, 1955, in Hampton, to 
Edward Morton and Jeane (nee) Campbell Morton.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

He was married to his high school sweetheart, Jerri Jean Christiansen, 
on Sept. 27, 1975.

Lance was a precious baby, a wonderful, loving child and  
magnificent human being.

He was a super achiever but not selfish in those pursuits.  His 
achievements began early when as a preschooler, he sang on 
television with his three older brothers.  When he was 14 years 
of age, he assumed the lead role in the school musical, 
``The Unsinkable Molly Brown.''

His scope of accomplishments took him from Boy Scouts; paper 
delivery boy; choir, both church and school; band; Little League; 
and Babe Ruth league.  He lettered in all sports.  He was a member 
of the barbershop chorus of Mason City, and he and his wife, 
Jerri, sang at many funerals, weddings and other events in the area.

Lance was very civic minded, too, and served on the Coulter 
Community Club and fire department.  He graduated from CAL 
Community high school and subsequently entered the family business. 
He worked very hard and became an integral part of the business. 
He was vice president and held a master's certification.

He had recently received more honors at the national convention 
in Orlando, Fla., by the Kinetico Softener and Water Conditioning 
Company of Newberry, Ohio.  Lance was always a contributor in every 
facet of his life.  Lance was a self educator and a visionary for 
excellence and perhaps his only failure was not being able to meet 
his own standards.  He had extraordinary ideas and possessed the 
skills, patience and perseverance to accomplish them.  He was a 
disciplined, hardworking, innovative person always seeking to 
better things.  

He was often called a gentle giant who radiated compassion, 
understanding and concern for whomever he encountered.  He never 
ceased in his efforts in helping people and wanted to help them to 
achieve a better and faith-filled life.  He was an extraordinary 
father to his sons.  He perceived their abilities and needs and was 
diligent in helping them pursue and accomplish them.  He was a 
nurturer.  Lance's sensitivity and depth took him to peaks and 
valleys that must have become too painful and temporarily unsolvable.  
He was a benefactor to family, business and community.  There will 
be a real void in all of them.  

His life was short in terms of years, but long in accomplishments.  He 
will be remembered for having touched many lives and he truly made 
a difference.

He is survived by his wife, Jerri; sons, Paul, Tom and Jim; his 
parents, Edward and Jeane; brothers, Kent, Robert, Reginald, Seth, 
Jason and Tracy; and sister, Priscilla.  He is also survived by a 
host of nieces and nephews and aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, 
Robert and Belva Campbell; and paternal grandparents, 
Ed and Myrtle Morton; and several aunts and uncles.

Daisy Mae Powgnas, 87, of Woolstock, died Thursday (June 15, 1995) 
at the Clarion Health Care Center.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Buckeye Cemetery 
in Hamilton County, south of Alden, with the Rev. Russell Surls 
of the Cottage Grove Community Church officiating.

Willim Funeral Home, Clarion, is in charge of arrangements.

Daisy Mae Powgnas was born Oct. 21, 1907, in New Hartford.

Survivors include one son, David Bohr; stepchildren, Henry Powgnas 
of Woolstock; Leo Powgnas of Duncombe; Ruth McCoy of Iowa Falls; 
Kathryn Baker of Ames and Doris Doran of Wilkes-Barres, Pa.; and 
many grandchildren, stepgrandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, her second husband,

Alice Rodman Smith, 74, of rural Nashua, died Thursday 
(June 15, 1995) at home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the 
Republic Community Church, rural Ionia.  Burial will be in 
Greenwood Cemetery, Nashua.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Chenoweth 
and Son Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church.

She is survived by her husband, Carl Smith of Nashua; one son, 
Steve Smith of Ionia; five daughters, Carol Smith and 
Karen Smith, both of Waterloo; Sharon Harms of Wellsburg; 
Kathy Kurth of Coralville, and Joyce Smith of Tuckerton, N.J.; 
nine grandchildren; one brother, James Rodman of Sumner; 
and five sisters, Elsie Richardson of Winona, Minn.; Ethel Wilhelm 
of Allison; Vera Knutson of Fredericksburg, Edith Schmidt 
of Clarksville, and Inez Landers of Greene.

Thomas W. Marshall, 84, of 100 Williams St., died Friday

Thomas William Marshall was born Jan. 10, 1911, at Charles City.

Survivors include three sisters-in-law, Vera Wedeking of 
Allison, Laura Heddens of Cedar Falls and Edna Regel of New Hampton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
