Clement J. Diesburg, 77, formerly of Belmond, died Thursday
(July 20, 1995) at home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St.
Michael's Catholic Church, Nashua. Burial will be in St. Michael's
Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and 9 to 10 a.m.
Tuesday at Chenoweth & Son Funeral Home, Nashua.
Survivors include his wife, Gertrude Diesburg of Clarksville; four
sons, Raymond Diesburg of Waverly, Robert Diesburg of Belmond,
Larry Diesburg of Freemont, Calif., and Michael Diesburg of
Clarksville; three daughters, Alice Schaa of Patterson,
Calif., Jean Dietz of Dumont, and Debra Diesburg of Waterloo; three
sisters, Coletta Dickhausen of Langdon, N.D., Lucille Koskie of
Ionia, and Irene Johnson of Clarksville; 21 grandchildren; and 18
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, his parents, four brothers,
and two sisters.

Elsie Katherine Sorensen Jorgensen
CHARLES CITY
Elsie Jorgensen, 91, died Friday (July 21, 1995) at the Floyd
County Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hauser
Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Niezwaag of St. John Evangelical
Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory
Gardens.
Visitation will be held from noon to 9 p.m. Monday at Hauser
Funeral Home, and will continue at 9 a.m. Tuesday until the time of
the funeral.
Elsie Katherine Sorensen Jorgensen was born March 30, 1904 at Dike.
Survivors include one daughter, Judy Christensen of Charles City;
five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great
grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter,
four brothers and four sisters.

Wilda (Griffith) Sifert
CLEAR LAKE
Wilda (Griffith) Sifert, 83, of 625 14th Ave. N., died Friday
(July 21, 1995) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason
City.
A celebration of Wilda's life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at
the Clear Lake United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the
Rev. Bernard Olson.
Visitation will be held after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the church and will
continue until time of the celebration. Fullerton Patterson James
Funeral Chapel, 123 Second St. S.E., Mason City, is in charge of
arrangements. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to make donations
to the Wycliffe Bible Translators (designated for David and Karen
Sifert) at P.O. Box 2727, Huntington Beach, Calif. 92647. Those
funds will be used for their missionary work in Yarinacocha, Peru.
Wilda was born on March 20, 1912 the daughter of Howard and Iona
Griffith in Hampton. She attended school in Mason City and
graduated from Mason City High School in 1929. She was employed
as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell.
On Sept. 29, 1934 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Roland
Sifert and to this union were born four children. Wilda was
active in 4-H and Boy and Girl Scouts as her children were growing
up. She also taught piano in her home, as well as enjoying sewing,
reading, gardening, and playing the piano. She was a member of the
Clear Lake United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women,
Swaledale Garden Club, the Clear Lake Home Improvement Club,
Central Heights Neighborhood Birthday Club, the Double F Club, and
the Wycliffe Bible Translators Assoc. She worked as a volunteer
for many different organizations, and particularly for Opportunity
Village.
She was the mother to David Sifert, Charles Sifert, Susan Sifert,
and Crystal Sifert, her four children, grandmother to fourteen
children, and great-grandmother of six. She is also survived by
her sisters, Claribel Bingham and Dorothy Vesterby, one brother,
William Leffingwell, and her sister-in-law, Doris Warren.
She preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Kenneth in 1972,
her sisters, Millicent and Eva Rae, and one brother, Edward.

Irwin J. Wessels, 89, of Buffalo Center, died Sunday (July 23,
1995) at the Lake Mills Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Bethlehem
Lutheran Church, Buffalo Center, with the Rev. Gerald Dysle
officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m Wednesday at the Winter
Funeral Home, and will continue one hour prior to services at the
church on Thursday.
The family suggests memorials to Hospice of North Iowa, Mason City.
Irwin J. Wessels was born Feb. 28, 1906, in Hamilton County.
Survivors include his wife, Selma Wessels of Lake Mills; four
daughters, Clarice Wessels of St. Louis Park, Minn.; Juanita
Wessels of Mason City; Elaine Skaar of White Bear Lake, Minn., and
Diane Wessels of Garner; one brother, Herbert Wessels of
St. Charles, Ill.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Penny Lammers was born Oct. 25, 1944 in Tacoma, Wash.
Survivors include her husband, Walter Lammers of Allison; three

Dan Williams of Flat Rock, Ill.; four daughters, Amie Dixon of
Grand Island, Neb., Sandra Doolittle of El Cajun, Calif., Sharon
Thompkins of LaGrange, Ga., and Deb Agby of Michigan; her mother,
Laverne Abernath of Chula Vista, Calif.; her step-mother, Nell

Faith Irene Jost, 85, formerly of 710 S. Pierce Ave., died
Sunday (July 23, 1995) at the Good Shepherd Health Center.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Rolling Acres
Free Methodist Church, 604 23rd St. S.W. Officiating will be the
Rev. Wayne Ryan and the Rev. Herschel Hawf. Interment will be at
the Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today at Fullerton Patterson James
Funeral Chapel, 123 Second St. S.E.
Memorials may be made to the church in her name.
Faith was born Jan. 21, 1910, at Earl, Wis., the daughter of David
Graham and Bertha (nee) Hart Graham. She moved to Hampton with
her family in 1924 and graduated from the high school in 1928. In
1940 she moved to Mason City and was the manager of the Dixie Shop,
Holly Shop, Mode ``O'' Day and worked at Montgomery Wards and
McGregor Furniture store. She was a member of the Rolling Acre
Free Methodist Church where she was very active until the time of
her illness in 1983. She dearly loved her family and friends and
to spend time crocheting and embroidering. For the past five years
she was a resident of Good Shepherd Health Center.

Joe Diaz
VESTAL, N.Y.
Joe Diaz, 73, of Vestal, N.Y., passed away on Monday (July 24,
1995) at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Binghamton, N.Y., after a
brief illness.
A Memorial Mass was offered at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Blessed
Sacrament Church, Johnson City, with Monsignor James D. Kane
officiating.
Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 E. Main St., Endicott, N.Y., was in
charge of arrangements.
A Memorial Golf Scholarship is being established in Joe's memory by
the John Kelly Golf League c/o John Hriciga, 204 Antonte Drive,
Endicott, N.Y. 13760 or contributions may be made in Joe's name to
one's favorite charity.
He was a member and lector of Blessed Sacrament Church of Johnson
City.
He attended Holy Family Catholic High School and Junior College in
Mason City, Iowa; he was a graduate of Iowa State University;
Syracuse University with a masters in engineering education;
Cornell University with a Ph.D in Curriculum Education
Administration and Computer Science.
He was a member of ETA Kappa Nu and Tau Beta Phi.
He was a retired employee of IBM Corporation, retiring in 1984
after 33 years of service and a member of its Quarter Century Club.
Joe was promoted to advisory engineer in 1961, worked on various
engineering assignments, Small Systems Information Retrieval,
technical proposals for new business, applications programming,
Software Quality Assurance and Avionics Engineering.
Joe achieved two patents and had one invention published.
Joe taught at Pan American University in McAllen, Texas, under the
faculty loan program.
He was an avid golfer, a great reader, computer specialist and
consultant.
Neighbors and friends describe Joe as a good, kind and gentle man.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa Diaz; children from a previous
marriage; one daughter, Mary Kiser, Clearwater, Fla; one son, Joe
(Jr.) Diaz of Clearwater, Fla.; two granddaughters, Heather and
Elisa; one sister, Alice Lee of Mason City, Iowa; one brother and
sister-in-law, Louis and Rosemary Diaz, of St. Louis, Mo.; several
nieces and nephews; several grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luis Diaz and
Elisa (nee) Flores Diaz; a brother, Alphonso Diaz and
sister-in-law, Judith Diaz.

Elgin G. Enabnit, 93, of 2515 S. Lakeview Court, Clear Lake,
died Sunday (July 23, 1995) at Good Shepherd Health Center, Mason
City.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the United
Church of Christ in Osage with the Rev. Bernard G. Olson
officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason
City.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Major Erickson
Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, with Masonic
Rites by the Osage Lodge at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be at 11
a.m. Thursday at the church.
Elgin G. Enabnit was born Sept. 16, 1901, at Mingo, the son of Fred
Enabnit and Katherine Enabnit. He was married to Clarice Rose
Tank of Mason City in December 1922, and lived in Mason City,
Marble Rock, Osage and Clear Lake in Iowa and Lewiston and
Milville in Minnesota. Clarice died in June 1967. Elgin married
Vera J. Lang of Clear Lake in November of 1968. Vera died in
January 1994.
Mr. Enabnit farmed and was in business in Minnesota and moved to
Osage in 1944 where he operated an oil company and automobile
dealership before becoming mayor of Osage. He was mayor for 26
years beginning in 1956. He was instrumental in making many city
improvements during his tenure. Most noteworthy are the four-lane,
tree-lined mainstreet and obtaining the municipal franchise to go
along with the municipal electric utility giving the city the
lowest utility rates in the state.
He was instrumental in forming the North Iowa Council of
Governments and served as its first president. He helped organize
the North Iowa Crime Commission and served on its board and also as
its president. He served as president of the Osage Chamber of
Commerce, chairman of the Mitchell County Cancer Society for five
years and was the first president of the Mitchell County Historical
Society. He was also president of the Osage Development
Corporation and was Mitchell County's Civil Defense Director for 10
years.
He is a charter member of the Osage Rotary Club and its past
president and was also named a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow.
Mr. Enabnit served as Sunday school teacher and superintendent and
was a member of the Board of Trustees and served as moderator for
17 years of the Osage United Church of Christ. He also served
three years as president of the Congregational Laymen of Iowa and
three years on the Board of Directors of the United Church of
Christ of Iowa and was State Moderator. He served as Master of the
Osage Masonic Lodge and was Commander of the Commandery and was
past president of the North Iowa Shrine Club and the North Iowa
Consistery. He also was a past Noble Grand of the Osage Odd
Fellows Lodge. He was a member of the Boy Scouts for over 50 years
and was president for three years of the Winnebago Council. He won
the highest award for volunteer workers in the Boy Scouts, the
Silver Beaver.
Survivors include five children, Elgin (Jr.) Enabnit, and his wife,
Phyllis of Weston, Conn.; Ted Enabnit of Mason City; Jerry Enabnit
of San Antonio, Texas; Betty Burling of Minneapolis, Minn., and
Shirley McGhan and her husband, Donald, of Las Vegas, Nev.; and one
stepson, Ron W. Lang and his wife, Carolyn, of Lincoln, Neb. He
also is survived by 16 grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, 31
great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, a daughter,
a son, a daughter-in-law, a son-in-law and a grandson.

Leora Clara Neil, 73, of 200 Centennial Drive, Reinbeck, passed
away Sunday (July 23, 1995) at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital
in Grundy Center after a courageous battle with cancer.
She is survived by her husband, David, of 49 years; daughter Rhonda
Koch and her husband, Dennis Koch of St. Ansgar; and son Gary Neil
and his wife, Lynn of Reinbeck; four grandchildren, Grant and
Kindra Koch of St. Ansgar, and Ben and Rebecca Neil of Reinbeck;
four sisters, Myrne Billerbeck and Reva Billerbeck of Reinbeck,
Francine Klahsen of Aplington, and Frances Lorenzen of Ventura; one
brother, Donald Billerbeck of rural Reinbeck; and many nieces,
nephews and cousins.

Marvel Veonne Keough

Marvel Veonne Keough, 65, of 722 15th St. N.E., died Monday
(July 24, 1995) at home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Grace United
Methodist Church, 200 14th St. N.W., with the Rev. Harlan
Stenberg officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today at the Hogan-Bremer
Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., and one hour prior to
services at the church on Thursday.
Marvel was born Aug. 6, 1929 in Powersville, daughter of Wayne
Arhart and Estella (nee) Allen Arhart.
She married James P. Keough on Nov. 29, 1947, in Austin, Minn.
Marvel grew up in Marble Rock and attended Marble Rock school.
She and her husband farmed in Thornton for a few years until
moving to Mason City in 1952. They owned and operated N & M Lunch
for 10 years.
Marvel loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She
enjoyed crocheting and raising flowers. She was a member of the
Grace United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Keough of Mason City; two
daughters, Patricia Blau and her husband, Daniel, of Forest City,
and Jacqueline Reich and her husband, Keith, of Mason City; three
sons, Michael James Keough and his wife, Tina, of Grandview, Mo.;
Terry Douglas Keough and his wife, Nancy, of Mason City, and
Joseph Allen Keough and his wife, Lea Ann, of Mason City; 13
grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Eleanor
Bramlette and her husband, Claude, of West Covina, Calif.; Nola
Seifert and her husband, Scott, of Mason City, and Joyce Hilton

Ray H. Givler, 95, of the Douglass House Apartments in
Houghton, died Monday (July 24, 1995) at the Houghton County
Medical Care Facility after being a patient for the past five
weeks.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Plowe
Funeral Home, 401 Memorial Road, Houghton, with the Rev. Nancy
Sparks officiating. Burial will be in Fort Howard Cemetery, Green
Bay, Wis.
Friends may call from 6:30 p.m. until time of services at the
funeral home.

memorials be made to Grace United Methodist Church, Houghton,
Mich.
Mr. Givler was born Oct. 31, 1899, in East Galesburg, Ill. He was
an accountant with the Chicago & North Western Railroad for 47
years, and lived in Mason City, Iowa, for many years before
moving to Chicago, Ill., and in 1948 to Green Bay, Wis.
He had resided in Houghton since 1990.
In 1926, he married the former Regina Klitsch of Mason City,
Iowa. She preceded him in death in 1987.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Laurie Gale and Cal Gale
of Houghton; four grandchildren, Bill Gale of Kingston, Ontario;
Janet (John) Valek of Fon du Lac, Wis.; John Gale of River
Forest, Ill.; and Susan (Brian) McCall of Green Bay, Wis.; three
great-grandchildren, Brandon Ray and Emily Meghan McCall and
Emily Valek; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mildred E. Bellcourt was born June 6, 1915, in Rockwell, the
daughter of Roy Clark and Nellie Clark (nee) Pope.
Mildred was baptized in the United Methodist Church, Rockwell,
and attended North Iowa Area Community College.
She lived in Waterloo for 10 years, and was a licensed practical
nurse.
Mildred worked at the Nora Springs Care Center for 18 years,
retiring in 1983.
She was an active member of the Royal Neighbors Club who enjoyed
playing cards, yard and crochet work.
She is survived by four sons, Bert Bellcourt and his wife,
Bernice of Waterloo; Marvin Bellcourt and his wife, Hattie, of
Lawton, Okla.; Michael Bellcourt and Mark Bellcourt of St. Paul,
Minn.; three grandchildren, Travis, Jamie and Teresa Bellcourt
of Waterloo; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Lucille Patton
and Dorothy Wickware; and a brother, Clarence Clark.

Wava J. Briggs was born Dec. 9, 1931, in Mason City, the daughter
of Kenneth L. Briggs and Louise A. (nee) Kreutzbender Briggs.
Wava attended Mason City Schools and graduated from Mason City
High School in 1950.
She then attended St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital School of Nursing
and graduated as a licensed practical nurse.
She worked at the Park Hospital in the operating room and then at
North Iowa Medical Center in central supply. Wava worked for 35
years in the nursing field, retiring in 1990.
She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and Eastern Star.
Survivors include one sister, Donna Rogers and her husband,
George Rogers, of New Hampton; one niece, Lori Anderson and her
husband, Ron Anderson, of Dodge Center, Minn.; two nephews, Tim
Rogers and his wife, Karen, of New Hampton, and Todd Rogers and
his fiancee, Angela, of Seymour; seven great nieces and nephews,
Derek Rogers of New Hampton; Nick, Heather, Ben, Molly, Caitlin
and Adam Anderson, all of Dodge Center, Minn.

She worked at the Covered Wagon restaurant in Mason City and in
1962 went to work at Suzie-Q Cafe where she worked until 1984.
Barbara loved her cat, being with her grandchildren and camping.

Lena was born Jan. 30, 1912, at Green City, Mo., the daughter of
Calvert A. Sears and Ina (nee) Pratt Sears. She married Earl
Kline in November 1949, at Mason City. She attended Mason City
area schools and North Iowa Area Community College. She has been
a resident of Mason City since 1934 and worked at the former S.S.
Kresge Store in Mason City for many years.
She enjoyed fishing, gardening, sewing and outdoor activities.
She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church where she
served on the church council, taught Sunday school and was
financial secretary. She was also active in A.L.C.W., altar
guild and Miriam Circle. She also served on the board at Good
Shepherd Health Center. Her memberships include Women of the
Moose and River City Tri Club.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathleen Turner and husband,
Charles, Milwaukee, Wis.; two stepsons, Lyle Kline Sr. and wife,
Darlene, and Eddie Kline and wife, Sherrill, all of Mason City;
eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nine
stepgrandchildren; 13 stepgreat-grandchildren; two
stepgreat-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Irene Stockberger and
Alice Pope, both of Mason City; and one brother, Warren Sears,

Maurice E. Hickey, 61, passed away Thursday (July 20, 1995)
at home in Palm Harbor, due to cancer.
The Thomas Dobie Funeral Home, Holiday, was in charge of the
services. The Mass was said at St. Ignatius Catholic Church,
Tarpon Springs, where Maurice was a choir member. Interment was
at Vets National Cemetery of Florida.
Maurice E. Hickey was born in Nora Springs, Iowa, where his
parents farmed. They moved to Mason City and he started school at
St. Joseph's Catholic School and graduated with the class of
1952. He entered the service and upon his return from the
service he became the manager for the Knights Inn Motel in Palm
Harbor.
He loved music and was a member of ``The Barbershoppers,'' and
choir at church. He was also a member of the Knights of
Columbus. Fishing, traveling and visiting his family were his
hobbies.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra K. Hickey; two sons,
Larry Hickey and Lonny Hickey, Rochester, Minn.; one stepson,

Mary Louise Wallace was born Sept. 22, 1911, in Baltimore, Md.,
the daughter of William Keene and Helena Keene (nee) Bowen. She
attended school and graduated from Seton High School in 1930 in
Baltimore.
She married Eugene C. Wallace on Oct. 11, 1930, at St. Agnes
Catholic Church, Baltimore. She lived in Baltimore most of her
live and worked for the Social Security Administration, from
where she retired in 1974, and she then moved to Nora Springs.
She was very active in many volunteer activities, R.S.V.P., and
volunteered at both Mercy Hospital and North Iowa Medical Center.
In 1991, she received the Floyd County Volunteer of the Year
Award. She was best known for her many years as ``Mrs. Santa''
at the various schools, nursing homes, hospitals and the MacNider
Museum. She was also an active volunteer at the Nora Springs
Care Center. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Helene Wallace, Nora Springs,
and Jeanne L. Wallace Bernhardt and husband, David Bernhardt,
Plymouth; three grandchildren, Douglas Bernhardt and wife, Susan,
Kansas City, Mo., Daniel and Julie Bernhardt, both of Plymouth;
one sister, Marguerite Clas, Sykesville, Md.; one half brother,
William Cecil Keene of Maryland; and a very special friend, Kay

Clara Barker was born May 5, 1907, the daughter of Peter Peterson
and Marie Peterson (nee) Severts, on a farm near Nora Springs.
She grew up with four sisters and one brother. She attended Nora
Springs School where in one of her classes, she happened to sit
beside her future husband. After graduating from Iowa State
Teachers College (University of Northern Iowa), Cedar Falls, she
taught at Morehead until her marriage to Howard Barker on Dec.
31, 1931, in Nora Springs.
She was a Mason City Girl Scout executive in 1935-36. She was a
charter member of the P.E.O. KX Chapter and a past president. As
long as she was able, she worked in her church circles.
She found beauty in the colors and shapes of nature which she
transferred to her home and attire. She enjoyed cards and
visiting with friends. Her companionship will be missed.
Survivors include her husband, Howard Barker, Mason City; one
sister, Dorothea Todino, Ellenton, Fla.; three nephews, Dick
Olson, Gary Peterson and Ronald Crabb; two nieces, Jo Ann Turner
and Diane Kirwan; one brother-in-law, Dr. Donald Crabb; and

raised on a farm west of Kanawha and united in marriage to Harold
Abele on July 16, 1940. They have been married 55 years. They
farmed south of Klemme and moved into Klemme five years ago.
She was a member of United Methodist Church, Klemme, and was past
president of U.M.W. for four years. She enjoyed her family,
crocheting and reading.
She is survived by her husband, Harold, of Klemme; two daughters,
Linda Meyer and husband, Roger, Goodell, and Virginia Edmunds and
husband, Fred, Richmond, Texas; three sons, John Abele and wife,

Irene Kearney was born July 31, 1915, at Mason City, the daughter
of Abraham Angelides and Henrietta Angelides (nee) Heck.
She worked at the Belmond Nursing Home as a cook for 12 years and
loved her job. She enjoyed reading and was a loyal patron of the
Belmond Library. She loved family ``get togethers'' big and
small from weddings, graduations to picnics. She was quite a
shopper from K-Mart to the Mall of America. She was an avid
``fair go'er.'' She liked all fairs, especially to take her
grandchildren and great-grandchildren on the Ferris wheel. She
could never pass up a good hot dog.
She was a member of the Jolly Worker Club, a rural club.
She leaves behind her wonderful memories to be shared for years
to come.
The love of her life was her family, her husband, children,
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Leo Kearney of rural Klemme; a
daughter, Sharon Peterson and husband, Richard, Mason City; three

John Wilson Brown, 94, died Thursday (July 27, 1995) at his
home in Orlando, Fla.

John Wilson Brown was born Nov. 8, 1900, the son of Alexander
Brown and Hattie Hindle. He attended rural schools in Kossuth
County, where his ancestors were among the first settlers.
He married Matilda Putzstuck who preceded him in death. They had
one child, Phyllis. On March 12, 1929, he wed Myrtle Peterson in
Britt Congregational Church where her parents had been married 40
years before. They moved from Algona to Britt in 1936, where
they operated a grocery store and fruit market. May 9, 1942 took
them to Wisconsin where they worked in the Badger Ordinance
Works. When John retired they spent most of the year in Orlando,
Florida and summers in Lake Delton, Wis. He was a member of the
Evangelical Free Church.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtle and three children, (Mrs.
Marvin) Phyllis Koebke Hoffmann of Fort Atkinson, Wis., (Mrs.
Carl) Dorothy Steinhorst Brahmsted of Baraboo, Wis., and

Kermit W. Kuntz
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at
Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Grafton, with the Rev. Greg Bjornstadt
and the Rev. Rose Marie Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the
Grafton Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted by the
Grafton American Legion.
Visitation is after 4 p.m. today at the Hogan-Bremer Colonial
Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City, and one hour prior to
services at the church on Monday.
Kermit W. Kuntz was born May 4, 1927 in Barton Township, the son
of Fred Kuntz and Lydia (nee) Bruesewitz Kuntz. He was baptized
on July 3, 1927 and confirmed on June 1, 1941 at Emmanuel
Lutheran Church in Grafton. He married Harriet Christians on
May 24, 1953 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Grafton.
Kermit grew up in the Grafton area and graduated from Grafton
High School. He served in the army during the Korean War and was
stationed in Germany. He worked for Birch Dalluge Turkey Farm
for one year and then began his career in farming and raising
turkeys until retiring in October, 1994, when he and his wife
moved to Mason City.
Kermit loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He
enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and collecting antiques. He
was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church which he served on the
church board, and the Grafton American Legion Post No. 616.
Survivors include his wife, Harriet Kuntz, Mason City; two sons,
Dave Kuntz and his wife, Terri, Mason City, and Brent Kuntz and
his wife, Julie, Grafton; five grandchildren, Cassie, Nicole,
Lindsay, Tim and Jenna Kuntz; six sisters, Ruth Krueger, Osage,
Ella Priem, St. Ansgar, Pearl Rosenberg and her husband, Elmer,
St. Ansgar, Ethel Walk and her husband, Clarence, Northwood,
Marcella Kuntz, Mason City, and Lois Westondorf and her husband,
Clair, Des Moines; one brother, Gene Kuntz and his wife, Arlene,
St. Ansgar; two sister-in-laws, Laura Kuntz, Grafton, and Alice
Kuntz, St. Ansgar; his mother-in-law, Dora Christians, Grafton;
and many nieces and nephews.
He leaves to join his parents; two brothers, Earl Kuntz and
Vernon Kuntz; and his father-in-law, Harry Christians.

Opal Mary Marinis (nee) Earley
MASON CITY
Opal Mary Marinis, 88, of 23 14th St. N.E., died Saturday
(July 29, 1995) at the Good Shepherd Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Hogan Bremer
Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with the Rev. Randy Nielsen,
pastor of Good Shepherd, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial
Park Cemetery.
Visitation is from 5 to 7 tonight at the funeral chapel and after
9 a.m. Monday until time of services.
Opal Mary Earley was born June 30, 1907 near Concordia, Kan. She
grew up in the Concordia area and moved to Mankato and married
Andrew Marinis where they operated the Metropolitan Cafe. They
then moved to Mason City in the late 1930's and owned and
operated the Black and White Cafe until retiring in 1984.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and sewing. She was a lifetime
member of the White Shrine of the Masonic Temple.
Survivors include one daughter-in-law, Phyllis Marinis, Mason
City; three grandchildren, Connie Marinis, Mason City, Stephanie
King, Mason City, and Rex Marinis, Fountain Hills, Ariz.; two
great-grandsons, and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Andrew;
one son, Rex D. Marinis; two great-grandchildren; five brothers;
and five sisters.

Alma M. Booen
NORTHWOOD
The funeral service for Alma M. Booen, of 507 Sixth St.,
will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Lutheran Church,
Northwood. The Rev. Mark Bents will officiate, with interment in
the Sunset Rest Cemetery at Northwood.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Bonnerup Funeral
Service, Albert Lea, Minn., and one hour before the service at
the church.
Alma died Friday, July 28, 1995 at St. John's Lutheran Home,
Albert Lea. She was 83 years old.
Alma was born July 1, 1912 in Albert Lea, Minn., the daughter of
Victor Stiehl and Annie Bangert Stiehl of Albert Lea. She was
baptized and confirmed at Concordia Lutheran Church of Pickerel
Lake. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1930. On
June 1, 1933, she married Melvin Loken. They farmed west of
Northwood. In 1963 she began employment at the Lutheran
Retirement Home in Northwood where she worked for 13 years.
On Sept. 5, 1976, she married Shirley (,Mr.) Booen where she
moved to her present home. Her many activities included a member
of First Lutheran Church, circle and WELCA. She was a member of
Twin Lakes Senior Citizens and enjoyed traveling, fishing,
baking, sewing, music and gardening. She had an appreciation of
family and friends.
Alma is survived by one daughter and two sons, Marlene Peterson
of Kensett; Ronald Loken and his wife, Linda, and Larry Loken,
all of Northwood; six grandchildren, Lori Peterson and her
husband, Jeff Richards, Brenda Peterson Neville and husband, Joe,
Rodney Loken and his wife, Sue, Ann Peterson, Robin Hopperstad
and her husband, Jay and Tracy Peterson; four
great-grandchildren, Joshua and Christopher Neville and Jake and
Casey Loken; one sister, Irene Hagen of Albert Lea; one brother,
Arthur Stiehl of Glenville, Minn.; one sister-in-law, Adelle
Loken of Emmons, Minn., and special friend, Becky Tasker of
Albert Lea, and other family members and friends.
Alma was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Melvin
Loken in September 1963, and Shirley Booen in May 1992;
son-in-law, Dudley Peterson; two sisters, Gladys Bredeson and
Laona Buenneke; and a brother, Vern Stiehl.

Wilford ``Bill'' Huso, 83, of Riceville, died Friday (July
28, 1995) at the Riceville Community Rest Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, at St.
Peters' Lutheran Church in Riceville, with the Rev. Robert Pfeil
officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery,
Riceville. Military rites will be performed at the cemetery by
the Roy Gue Post.

Joseph C. McCauley, 84, of 725 N. Van Buren, died Saturday
(July 29, 1995) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday at Holy
Family Catholic Church, with the Rev. John R. Kremer officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with full military
rites by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 tonight at Major Erickson Funeral Home,
111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with a scriptural wake service at 7
tonight at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Holy
Family Catholic Church.
Joseph McCauley was born Nov. 4, 1910 at Rockwell, the son of
Joseph S. McCauley and Pearl M. Preston McCauley. He
graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Rockwell in 1929, then
attended Linotype school in 1930. He served in the U.S. Army
during World War II.
On June 8, 1948, he married Catherine C. Galagan in Rockwell.
Joseph worked for Armour & Co. 23 years retiring in 1972. He was
a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, American Legion and
Armour Retired Employees.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine C. McCauley of Mason City;
a son, Bernard J. McCauley and wife, Cathy McCauley of West
Point, Iowa; a daughter, Sheila McCauley and husband, David
Johnson, of Indialantic, Fla.; three grandchildren, Courtney and
Elizabeth McCauley, and Christena Grassi; several nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, William
McCauley, David McCauley, and Francis McCauley; one sister,
Catherine, in infancy.

Hulda L. Miller as born Dec. 8, 1910 in rural Greene, Bennezette

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sisters,

Maurice Raymond Dahl, 78, of Manly, died Saturday (July 29,
1995) at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, 1995, at the
Bethel United Methodist Church in Manly, with the Rev. Kathy
Graves, Director of Spiritual Care for Hospice of North Iowa,
officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason
City. Friends may call from 4 to 8 tonight at the Bride Colonial
Chapel, 110 E. Spring St., and one hour prior to service time on
Tuesday at the church.
Maurice Raymond Dahl was born Dec. 5, 1916 in rural Manly, the
son of George I. Dahl and Bessie (nee) Knowles Dahl. He attended
and received his education in the Manly School System, graduating
from Manly High School. After completing his formal education he
helped his family on the family farm.
He was united in marriage to Floy Isabelle Moretz on Jan. 4, 1942
in Manly. She preceded him in death on Nov. 8, 1988. From 1956
until 1962, they owned and operated the M & F Drive-Inn
Restaurant in Manly. Maurice was also a heavy equipment operator
for several years for various construction companies until his
retirement in the early 1970s. He enjoyed riding his
motorcycles, traveling, hunting, fishing, gardening, working with
his hands, and in his younger years he loved to fly his airplane.
He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Manly.
Survivors include one daughter, Deanne (Dahl) Bork and her
husband, Al, of Manly; one son, Stephen Dahl and his wife, Paula,
of New Hampton; six grandchildren, Denise Buckley of Mason City,
Dawn Jackson of Waterloo, Darren Buckley of Mason City, Dana
Hrubetz of Manly, Christopher Dahl of New Hampton, and Jaydon
Dahl of New Hampton; four great-grandchildren, Danielle Hrubetz,
Kendall and Kasey Jackson, and Jadda Buckley; one brother,
Wallace Dahl and his wife, Doris, of Manly; one sister-in-law,
(Mrs. Philip) Edna Dahl of Manly; two brothers-in-law, Lyle
Pfantz of Waterloo and Leonard Dietrich of Manly; one aunt, Alma
(Backhaus) Orpen, Manly; as well as other relatives and friends.
Besides his wife, he was also preceded in death by his parents;
