     DeWayne Micheal Lunning, 53, of Coulter, died Monday (Aug.
21, 1995) at Mercy Hospital, Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Nazareth
Lutheran Church, with the Rev. John Golv officiating. Burial
will be in the Coulter Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Sietsema-Vogel
Funeral Home, Hampton.

DeWayne M. Lunning was born April 30, 1942, in Rowan.

Survivors include wife, Nancy Lunning of Coulter; daughter,
Kelli Ebsen of Albuquerque, N.M.; daughter, Amy Lunning of 
Albuquerque, N.M.; daughter Michelle Lunning of Albuquerque, 
N.M.; son, Michael Lunning of Albuquerque, N.M.; and daughter, 
Crystal Lunning of Coulter; two stepsons, Michael Janssen of 
Pleasant View, N.Y., and James Janssen of Flat Rock, N.C.; 
two stepdaughters, Lori Janssen of Sandy, Utah, and 
Kimberly Janssen of Exira; his mother, Mabel and husband, 
Bud (Lunning) Schaumberg of Garner; one brother
Norm Lunning of Garner; one sister, Sue Folkerts of Forest  City;
one stepbrother, Jim Schaumberg of Forest City; three stepsisters,
JoAnn Curley of Garner, Doreen Olson of Osseo, Minn., and 
Donna Karsjens of Garner; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, his maternal grandparents
and paternal grandparents.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Laurence Garrett officiating. Burial will be in the Belmond Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Ewing Funeral Home, Belmond, and one hour prior to services at the church. Irvin Ernest Rockow was born Dec. 20, 1926, in Wright County. Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Rockow; two sons, Jeffery Rockow of Anoka, Minn., and Paul of Racine, Wis.; two daughters, Cynthia Corgan of Phoenix, Ariz., and Shelley Foss of Belmond; nine grandchildren; and four brothers, Lyle Rockow of Bella Vista, Ariz., Maynard Rockow of Alden; Edward Rockow of Dows and Virgil Rockow of Webster City. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Schrader (nee) Brandau RUDD Laura Christina Schrader, nee Brandau, 101, of Romeoville, Ill., formerly of Rudd, died Tuesday (Aug. 15, 1995) at the home of her daughter in Romeoville, Ill. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 26, 1995) at Rudd United Methodist Church, 611 Sixth St., Rudd, with the Rev. Debra Stowers officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Rudd. A private graveside service for the family will be held at the cemetery. Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye, Nora Springs, is handling arrangements. Mrs. Schrader was born Aug. 7, 1894, at her family's farm northeast of Rudd. After the death of her parents, William Brandau and Mary Lohr Brandau, the children moved to Nora Springs where they lived with their mother's twin sister, Amelia Lohr. REF: Mary Brandau (nee) Lohr Laura was baptized and confirmed at the Evangelical Church in Nora Springs, and her membership was transferred to the Methodist Church in Rudd in 1920, where she remained a member until her death. She married Harry E. Schrader on Aug. 14, 1919, at Rudd, where they established their home. Her husband died Jan. 4, 1971. At the age of 92, she made her home with her daughter and family in the Chicago area. She was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Rudd. She is survived by one daughter, Bonnie Day of Romeoville, Ill.; one son, Normand Schrader and his wife, Phyllis, of Fargo, N.D.; five grandchildren, Scott Shrader, Little Canada, Minn.; Susan Schrader, Fargo, N.D.; Christine Day of New Orleans, La.; Edward Day of Memphis, Tenn.; Amie Johnson and her husband, Ron, of Romeoville, Ill.; and two great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Ashley. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Ervin Brandau; and sisters, Alvina Wholers, Clara Andresen and Florence Brandau.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Fullerton Patterson James Funeral Chapel, 123 Second St.S.E., with the Rev. Randy Nielson, chaplain of the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, officiating. Interment will be at the Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel. Flossie was born on July 3, 1905 in Eagleville, Mo., the daughter of John and Laura (German) Fish.She attended school in Missouri. On Oct. 4, 1927, she was united in marriage to Lessie Tull at Bethany, Mo. After living and working on several farms in the North Iowa area, they moved to Mason City in 1949. Flossie loved working in her garden and cooking, often giving the fruit of her labors away. She also hand crocheted and braided rugs and was the proud sewer of clothing and quilts. Flossie is survived by four children; one daughter, Mrs. Glen (Beverly) Platts of Mason City; three sons, Lloyd and his wife, Joyce Tull of Virginia Beach, Va., Robert ``Bob'' and his wife, Joyce Tull of Swan, Iowa; and Larry and his wife, Becky Tull of Sheffield; one sister, Vada Kinder of Mason City; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband in June of 1969; one son, Bennie Tull; one daughter, Helen Askeland; one sister, Lola Ogle; two brothers, Virgil Fish and Floyd Fish; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
MCGG 8/28/1995 circa James C. Hanson BRANDON, S.D. James C. Hanson, 53, of Brandon, S.D., formerly of Clear Lake, Iowa, died Wednesday (Aug. 23, 1995) at the Sioux Valley Hospital of cancer. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. today at the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 4201 E. 10th St., Sioux Falls, S.D. Burial will be at Hills of Rest Memorial Park, Sioux Falls. James C. Hanson was born Oct. 16, 1941 in Mason City, Iowa. He grew up in Clear Lake, Iowa where he graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1960. He attended the University of Iowa where he received his B.A. in business administration and his masters degree in vocational rehabilitation counseling. He married Julie Hanson (nee) Erznozinik on Sept. 8, 1963 at Clear Lake. He was employed by the Vocational Assessment Center in Oakdale, Iowa, for five years, served as the director of the Iowa Central Rehabilitation Industries at Fort Dodge from 1968 to 1982. They moved to the Sioux Falls area where he served as president of Sioux Vocation Services from 1982 to the present. He was a member of the CASA Board, National ANCOR Board, and past president of the SD Association of Community Based Programs. Survivors include his wife, Julie Hanson of Brandon, S.D.; one son, James of Sioux Falls, S.D.; three daughters, Holly Theisen of LeMars, Iowa, Heidi Hanson of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Heather Wells of New York, N.Y.; and three grandchildren; his mother, Dorothy Rogers of Clear Lake, Iowa; and one brother, Jon Hanson of Clear Lake, Iowa. The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to a special fund in memory of James C. Hanson at Sioux Vocational Services.
MCGG 8/28/1995 Lawrence Stelter CLEAR LAKE Lawrence Stelter, 73, of 5851 S. Shore Dr., Clear Lake, died Friday (Aug. 25, 1995) at the Muse Norris Hospice In-patient Unit, Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake, with the Rev. Kermit Roisen officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church Cemetery, Toeterville. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., with a 4 p.m. I.O.O.F. service. Lawrence was born March 15, 1922 on the family farm in Otranto Township, rural Otranto, the son of Gustav Stelter and Mary Stelter (nee) Schroeder. He was baptized April 9, 1922 at St. Peter Lutheran Church at Toeterville and was confirmed March 25, 1934. Lawrence attended Otranto School and graduated there in May of 1939. On April 4, 1942, he was united in marriage to Gala Anna Bork in Austin, Minn. The couple lived on the family farm until 1967, when they moved to Clear Lake, Iowa. Lawrence was a 4-H club leader for a number of years and also served two terms on the Otranto School Board. Lawrence received his real estate license in May 1968. He began his career in real estate with Ris Van Realty in Clear Lake in 1968 and later was one of the founders of Triad Realty in 1974. He was the first president of the Clear Lake Board of Realtors in 1980 and remained a member until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge 187 and a past member of the Clear Lake Noon Lions. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his wife and their families, whom he loved very much. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake. He is survived by his wife, Gala, of Clear Lake; two sons, Dennis and his wife, Marilyn, of Clear Lake, and Daryl (Chip) and his wife, Linda, of Lake Mills; two sisters, Mrs. Lucille Larson and Mrs. Bernice Callahan, both of Austin, Minn.; four grandchildren, John Stelter and his wife, Deb of Clear Lake; Dave Stelter and his friend, Tammy Schiermeister of Clear Lake, Shawn Stelter of Armstrong; and Sheila Stelter of Lake Mills; and two great-grandchildren, Timothy and Taylor Stelter. He was preceded in death by his parents.
MCGG 8/28/1995 Frank Charles Nikolas MARBLE ROCK Frank Charles Nikolas, 64, of Rothsay, Minn., formerly of Marble Rock will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Reid's Funeral Chapel in Greene, with the Rev. Galen Smith of the First Presbyterian Church of Greene officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Aplington. Frank Charles Nikolas was born on Sept. 5, 1930 in Marble Rock, a son of Herman Nikolas and Lita Nikolas (nee) Jewell and died Thursday (Aug. 24, 1995) at the Dakota Hospital in Fargo, N.D. He received his education in the public schools and graduated from the Marble Rock High School with the class of 1948. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. Following his tour of duty, he returned to the Marble Rock area where he was united in marriage to Betty Alice Smeins on July 3, 1955, at the First Presbyterian Church in Greene. To this union were born two sons: Anthony and Arlin. As a young man, Frank attended the Hamilton Business College in Mason City, where he received his accounting diploma. He then began working as a purchasing agent, in a career that spanned 34 years and affiliated him with the Ringer Company in Park Rapids, Minn., Artic Enterprises in Detroit Lakes, Minn., and Superior Machinery in Morris, Minn. returning to Park Rapids where he finished his career working for RDO Frozen Foods in 1993. Frank and Betty retired to Rothsay where they have made their home this past year to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Frank enjoyed nurturing his vegetable garden into abundant fruition to share with his family and friends. He was an avid sports fan who instilled in his sons an appreciation for athletics. Above all, Frank dedicated his life to the happiness of his wife and children and later his grandsons, all of whom he loved with all his heart. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of the last 40 years, Betty of Rothsay; two sons, Anthony and his wife, Jacqueline of Long Prairie, Minn., and Arlin and his wife, Beth Anne of Rothsay; three grandsons, Benjamin, Bradley Charles, and Alexander; three sisters, Carol Peterson of White Bear Lake, Minn., Helen Handt of Tucson, Ariz., and Beulah Kramer of Rockford, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. MCGG 8/28/1995 Alfred Fredrick Lampman GREENE Funeral services for Alfred F. Lampman, 79, of 114 North Main, Greene, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday (Aug. 29, 1995) at the United Methodist Church in Greene, with pastor Gene A. Burry officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Greene. Visitation will be from 2:30 to 9 p.m. Monday at Reid's Funeral Chapel in Greene, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at the church one hour before services. Alfred Fredrick Lampman was born Feb. 21, 1916 in rural Rosemont (Webster County), Neb., a son of Fredrick Lampman and Emma M. Lampman (nee) Hublein; and died Saturday (Aug. 26, 1995) at the North Iowa Medical Center East Campus in Mason City of complications from surgery. He received his education in the rural Webster County Nebraska Schools, and as a young man worked for area farmers. In 1937, he moved to Iowa where he worked for farmers in Floyd County and later in Butler County. He was united in marriage to Lillian Mae Salge on Aug. 25, 1940 at St. Johns Ev. Lutheran Church at Vilmar. They first farmed near Bristow and later at Vilmar. Lillian died Nov. 19, 1957. On Oct. 8, 1959, he was united in marriage to Frieda Larena (Bammann) Rademaker at Joplin, Mo. To this union was born a son, Fredrick Alfred Lampman who died June 21, 1962. Alfred and Frieda farmed southeast of Greene until 1962 when they moved to Marble Rock. In 1975 they returned to Greene. Alfred was employed by the Allied Construction Company from 1975 to 1980 and worked part-time for the same company until 1985. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frieda, on May 3, 1985. Alfred was united in marriage to Helen (Faber) Allan on Feb. 15, 1986 at the United Methodist Church in Greene. Alfred and Helen enjoyed being together and taking part in activities together in the 60 Plus Club and traveling to places which included Alaska, Australia, and the Caribbean as well as bus tours throughout the midwest. They were faithful members of the United Methodist Church in Greene. Alfred's favorite pastime was playing cards and visiting with family and friends. He enjoyed the special times with his stepgrandchildren. Living family members include his wife, Helen, of Greene; one stepdaughter, Shirley and Richard Derr of Fayette; three stepsons, Roger and Barbara Maier of Belton, Mo., Bruce and Ella Mae Maier of Paulina, Keith and Teri Maler of Riverton, Wyom.; 11 stepgrandchildren, 18 stepgreat-grandchildren, and two stepgreat-grandchildren; one sister, Sorella Meents of Aurora, Colo. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Martha Lampman, Matilda Moye, Sophia Stroh, Emma Leetsch; and four brothers, Andrew Lampman, Herbert Lampman, Arthur Lampman, and Harry Lampman. Alice Miller was born Jan. 6, 1912 in Lake Mills, the daughter of Axel and Gurena Bergdale. She married Maurice Paul Miller on June 20, 1932 at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. Alice grew up in the Lake Mills area. She worked for 40 years at Armour until retiring in 1974. She liked to cook and bake and enjoyed the company of her friends. She enjoyed quilting, playing cards, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Survivors include one son, Gregory L. Miller and his wife, Nancy, Mason City; seven grandchildren, Kyla Bonnstetter and Saibra Miller, both of Phoenix, Ariz., Darrel Miller, Mason City, and Nathan, Jonathan, Kellie and Ryan Miller, all of Mason City; two sisters, Eleanor Curtis, Riverside, Calif., and Esther Moser, Arcadia, Calif.; three brothers, Alfred Bergdale, Northwood, Gus Bergdale, Ellendale, Minn., and Marlin Bergdale, Gettysburg, Penn.; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Darrell Miller and Gary D. Miller; three sisters; and two brothers.

Ellingson Memorial Fund. Marilyn J. Ellingson was born May 28, 1935 in Mason City, the daughter of Leonard Tosel and Arlene (nee) Keegan Tosel. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1953, then attended St. Mary's Nursing College in Rochester. She married Claire Ellingson July 25, 1956 at Moline, Ill. Marilyn worked at North Iowa Mercy Health Center as an L.P.N. for 22 years. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, enjoyed traveling and cross-stitching. As a wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister and friend, she will be missed by everyone. Survivors include her husband, Claire Ellingson of Mason City; three daughters, Cindy and husband, Lynn Christensen of Mason City, Teri and husband, Kenneth Block of Cedar Rapids, Jody Eggman of Mason City; one son, Scott and wife, Carol Ellingson, of Des Moines; grandson, Timothy Eggman of Mason City; granddaughters, Jonna Block of Cedar Rapids, Jessica Zupan of Des Moines; mother, Arlene Tosel of Mason City; sister, Joyce Johnson of Mason City; brother, Michael Tosel of Mason City; mother-in-law, Myrtle Lamb of mason City; brother and sister-in-law, Merle and Hazel Ellingson of Mason City; several nieces and nephews. MCGG 8/28/1995 circa Georgia Isenberger Kerch OSAGE Georgia Isenberger Kerch, 38, of Minneapolis, Minn., formerly of Osage, died suddenly of natural causes Saturday (Aug. 19, 1995) at the Hennepin County Medical Center, Minneapolis. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, 1995, at the Champion Funeral Home, Osage, with the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Inurnment will be in the Osage Cemetery. There is no visitation. The body was cremated. Georgia Kerch was born June 191, 1957 in Clarion, Iowa, the daughter of Warren Isenberger and Iola (nee) Loux Isenberger. She graduated from Osage High School in 1976. Later, she attended Hamilton Business College in Mason City. She married Michael Kerch on April 30, 1984 in Clarion. They moved to Minneapolis, where they made their home. Survivors include her husband, Michael Kerch, Minneapolis, Minn.; parents, Warren and Iola (Loux) Isenberger, Osage; four sisters, Lora Rohrer and husband, Quinten, Humboldt, Lorene Naze and husband, Ronald, Kasson, Minn., Merry Vance, Sac City, and Arlys Waite, Osage; two brothers, Stanley Isenberger, Osage, W. David Isenberger and wife, Hui Suk, Richardson, Texas; also many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Chris Holt was born July 20, 1974 in Story City, Iowa, the son of Barry Edward Holt and Diane Marie Jacques. He graduated from NE Hamilton Community School District in 1992, and attended Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa. Mr. Holt was employed with the Iowa Conservation Corps of Hamilton County for one year, and was presently employed as a shift manager for Pizza Hut in Hampton. He was a member of United Church of Christ Congregational, Blairsburg, and enjoyed mountain biking and skateboarding. Mr. Holt is survived by his father, Barry Holt of Austin, Texas; his mother, Diane Holt, of Blairsburg; his paternal grandmother, Evelyn Holt, of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Merle Newton Jacques and Betty Jean Cormaney Jacques; paternal grandfather, Bayard Holt; Godparent, Dennis Alsager.

She was employed at P.G. & E. (Interstate Power) for 17 years in Mason City. She then attended and graduated from the Chicago School of Interior Decoration, Chicago, Ill. In 1945, she opened Kislia Lamp and Gift Shop and owned and operated the shop until she retired in 1977. Avis was a member of Pilot Club International, Womens division of the Chamber of Commerce, Mason City Womens Club and a 64-year member of the First Christian Church. Survivors include a brother, Robert Kislia of Davenport; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Gladys Hamilton, Vera Murphy and Harriet Kislia; and two brothers, Henry and Lowell Kislia.

Kelley was born March 6, 1921, in Mason City, a son of James Kelley and Barbara (nee) Jansen Kelley. He married Mary Maskarina on May 7, 1942, in Washington, D.C. Dick grew up in Mason City and graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in 1938. He served in the Army and the Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in central Burma. He graduated from Central Radio and Television School in 1947 and worked for KGLO and KIMT as an engineer until retiring in 1986. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and coin collecting. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council No. 1006 and the V.F.W. Survivors include his wife, Mary Kelley, Mason City; two daughters, Marcia Nord of Mason City and Jamie Kelley, Twin Falls, Idaho; one son, Dick Kelley and his wife, Cathy, Elk Mound, Wis.; six grandchildren, Aaron Nord, Mason City, Jason Nord, a student at ISU, Ames, Angie Kelley, a student at the University of Wisconsin, Scott Kelley, Elk Mound, Wis., Josh Barlow, Northwood, and Savannah Francis, Northwood; one great-grandson; two sisters, Pat Baldwin, Mason City, and Barbara Gallogly, Mason City; and many nieces and nephews. Halligan-McCabe Funeral Home, Davenport, is in charge of arrangements. Sister Mary Hugh Brady was born March 28, 1901, in Keswick, a daughter of Hugh and Mary Bender Brady. She entered the Congregation of Humility of Mary on July 20, 1920, and professed her vows on Sept. 1, 1922. She received her master of arts degree in history in 1949 from Creighton University, Omaha, Neb. She was employed as a teacher, teaching primary and lower grades to begin with. She became a high school teacher in the 1950s. Her first mission was at St. Anthony's School in Des Moines. She taught in Des Moines, Dunlap and Cosgrove, Iowa, from 1922-26. She also taught at St. Mary's School in Marshalltown from 1926-27; St. Vincent School in Davenport from 1948-51; St. Mary's School in Ottumwa from 1951-53; and Dowling High School in Des Moines from 1954-59. Then from 1959-64 she taught at Catholic schools in Le Mars, Iowa, where she served as a superior. From 1965-66 she served at Catholic Central High School, Great Falls, Mont., and from 1971-89 she worked in Clear Lake, Iowa, in child care. She retired in 1989. Survivors include three sisters, Edna McKenna, North English, Rita Thomas, Keswick, and Delphia Devine, Sigourney; and several nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

In 1941, she graduated from Hamilton Business College and in December of last year she graduated from the Education for Ministry. Ethel married Kenneth W. Harrington March 28, 1948, in Mason City. She was employed by Montgomery Ward for 10 years and was office manager for Plumb Supply from 1950-80, retiring in 1980. Soon after her retirement, she became administrative assistant at St. John's Episcopal Church where she was a member of the Vestry, Fellowship Commission and St. John's Womanhood. She was a member of the Pilot Club and a former member of the Mason City Women's Chamber of Commerce and the Mason City Women's Club. Survivors include a brother, Roger Cline and his wife, Phyllis, of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; a sister, Darlene Buckland and husband, Bernie, of Mason City; two sisters-in-law, Wilma Cline of Mason City and Blanche Cline of Greensboro, N.C.; many special nieces and nephews; and many grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Charles Halfpop; grandparents; husband, Kenneth, in 1987; one sister, Alice Lowenberg; three brothers, Clarence, Dale and Harry Cline; one niece, Colleen Cline; and one nephew, Larry Lowenberg.

They lived on the East Coast for three years while Harold served his country. Following his discharge from the service, they moved to Mason City. Ruth was active as a volunteer for the Red Cross and her love for children led her to driving handicapped children to school. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Ruth has left as her survivors several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold, in 1973; four sisters, Esther Hrubetz, Ida Brunsvold, Agnes Thoen and Norma Burass; and two brothers, Truman and Raymond Thoen.

Inurnment will be in the Riverside Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Henry Albert Pattschull was born Oct. 15, 1901, in Pleasant Grove, rural Greene, the son of J. Alex Pattschull and Hannah (nee) Schmidtke Pattschull. He attended school at Pleasant Grove District No. 5 School in rural Greene. On Dec. 12, 1925, at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Greene, he married Frances Leola Koebrick. She died Feb. 28, 1968, in Pharr, Texas, where they were wintering at the time. Mr. Pattschull was a longtime farmer in the Pleasant Grove Township area. After moving to Charles City, he became a caretaker for the Riverside Cemetery. He moved to Virginia, Minn., in 1988. He was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Charles City, and a former member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greene. He was a member of the Senior Citizens Club in Mason City. In his spare time, he volunteered for several tasks at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was fond of sports of all types, music and dancing. He especially enjoyed wintering in Florida and Texas. Living family members include daughters, Ann (Mrs. Jack) Markley of Virginia, Minn., and Jeannie (Mrs. Don) Yon of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Gladys Katcher of Charles City. He was a home builder and contractor until he retired in 1993. Raymond was born on April 19, 1919, at Rockwell, the son of Raymond Archie Campbell and Lulu Yarrow Campbell. He graduated from Rockwell High School. He served his country in the United States Army from 1941 until being honorably discharged in 1946. He served as a first sergeant in the field artillery in the European Theatre, during which time he earned the Bronze Star. He served in Belgium, France and Germany. After returning to Rockwell, he was united in marriage to Marian V. Petersen on June 15, 1947, to which union four children were born. He was a rural mail carrier for 28 years, retiring in 1981. Ray was very active in the community and served for 30 years on the Rockwell Volunteer Fire Department, 18 years on the summer recreation board, served as the past president of both the Lion's Club and the St. Peter church board and was also a commander of the American Legion. Ray was one of the members who was instrumental in creating the avenue of the flags on Rockwell's main street. He had a passion for enjoying his grandchildren, golfing and outfishing his children. He was also an avid reader. Along with his wife, Marian, of 48 years, he is survived by his daughter, Linda, and her husband, Gene Schaefer of Williamsburg; three sons, Douglas and his wife, Maureen Campbell of Fort Wayne, Ind., Brian and his wife, Christie Campbell of Cedar Falls, and David and his wife, Jill Campbell of Pleasant Hill; one sister, Mrs. Raymond (Myrtle) Smith of Rockwell; and 11 grandchildren which include Brad and Becca Schaefer; Katie, Erin, Meghan, Joseph, Jami, Evan, Jacob, Abby and Sam Campbell. He married Florence "Fluff" Point on April 27, 1942, in Rolfe, Iowa. He was formerly of Pocahontas, Iowa, and had lived 46 years in Grand Meadow. Survivors include his wife, Florence ``Fluff'' Stejskal of Grand Meadow, Minn.; his children, Jerry Stejskal of Winona, Nancy (Mrs. Virgil) Weiss of Grand Meadow, Sally Stejskal of Mason City, Iowa, Thomas Stejskal of Grand Meadow, Becky Stejskal of Grand Meadow, Larry Stejskal of Apache Junction, Ariz., Penny (Mrs. John) Bremseth of Rochester, Minn., Sherry Stejskal of Grand Meadow, and Kelly (Mrs. Wayne) Averbeck of Jerome, Idaho; 21 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Frank Stejskal of Cape Coral, Fla.; and four sisters, Eleanor (Mrs. John) Polich of Urbandale, Anne (Mrs. Ray) Harald of Pocahontas, Judy (Mrs. Cleo) Flaherty and Marie (Mrs. Leo) Pattee, both of Pocahontas. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three grandchildren.

He retired in 1971 after 41 years as chief engineer for International Harvester, known now as Navistar. Stuart's work covered many different areas in this hemisphere. His efforts included the design, the patents and the manufacture of many above-ground harvesting machines especially modified to suit the crops and the climate of many areas from Canada through the states, Central America and some places in South America. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Gretchen Bickel Pool; a son, John Denton Pool of Ketchum, Idaho; three nieces, Wendy Van Syckle of Houston, Texas, Channice Charles of Minneapolis, Minn., and Mrs. Russ Tucker of Cleveland, Texas; and cousin, Channing E. Dakin of Mason City, Iowa.

Marie was born in Glenwood, Iowa on Aug. 18, 1901, daughter of Joseph and Lydia Winter. Marie received her education in Glenwood. As a young girl, Marie made the most important decision of her life. Realizing she was dead in sin and that Christ died for her sins on the cross, she by faith received the Lord Jesus Christ into her life as her personal Saviour. She loved the lord, lived for Him, and desired to make Him known to others. On Feb. 23, 1923, Marie married Charles Gonnerman at the home of her parents in Glenwood. Charles and Marie farmed in the Dysart area and in December of 1965 retired to their home on Clark Street in Dysart. Preceded in death by Charles in April of 1982, Marie remained in Dysart where she was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and actively served her Lord until she moved to the Worth Living Retirement Home at St. Ansgar, in September of 1988. In February of 1992, she moved to the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in St. Ansgar, where Marie died and went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, (Aug. 30, 1995). Marie is survived by five sons, Burnell of Ankeny, Dean of Oregon City, Ore., LaVern of Ankeny, Gary of St. Ansgar, and Allen of Montgomery, Ill.; six daughters, Mrs. Angelene Dwyer of Elkader, Virginia Gonnerman of Toledo, Maydine Gonnerman of St. Ansgar, Iowa; VirJean Gonnerman of Union Grove, Wis.; and Lorraine Gonnerman of Dinorwic, Ontario, Canada; as well as 17 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. The family is greatly comforted to know their mother is with the Lord.

Hazel Evelyn Gift was born Sept. 28, 1897 to Frank Gift and Anna Barmore Gift at Orangeville, Ill., the second born of eight children. In 1903, the family moved by train, livestock and machinery to Sheldon, Iowa, where they farmed for five years. In 1908, they purchased a farm at Dallas Center, Iowa, where they lived for many years. After graduating from high school, Hazel taught country schools for two years, then majored in elementary education at the Iowa State College in Ames, Iowa. On June 2, 1920, she was united in marriage to Harry E. Taylor in her parent's home. They remained on the farm from 1920 to 1945. They became the parents of seven children, six sons and one daughter. On March 1, 1945, the family moved to a farm near Swaledale, Iowa. Because of reasons of health, Harry and Hazel and the three youngest children moved to Tucson, Ariz. in 1948. In 1973 the parents moved back to Mason City, Iowa. Hazel is survived by six children, Howard Taylor and his wife, Elaine of Clear Lake; Gordon Taylor and his wife, Eva of Mason City; Donald Taylor and his wife, Betty of Mason City; Ralph Taylor and his wife, Shirley of Tucson, Ariz.; Marilyn and her husband, Warren Custer of Hugo, Okla.; and Dr. Wendell Taylor and his wife, Marge of Seminole, Fla; 22 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy McKelvey and Lorene Mullins, both of Dallas Center; and one brother, Robert Gift of Marshalltown. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lester Gift and Harry Gift; two sisters, Lois Elliott and Ethel Aldrich; a son, Allen Robert Taylor, who died in 1933 in a farm accident; and her husband, Harry E. Blanch was born Sept. 7, 1892 in Norwalk, Wis., the daughter of Frederick Thomas Woodliff and Lillian Mae (nee) Bootle Woodliff. She attended school in Norwalk and was employed as a hired girl. Blanch met her future husband when she and a brother went to Dakota to work as ranch house cook and hired hand for a threshing crew. The workers included Lewis Lester Fuller of Clear Lake, Iowa. After returning home to their respective homes, Lewis later traveled to Wisconsin to make Blanch his bride. They were married Feb. 2, 1912 in LaCross, Wis. They returned to South Dakota for a year and then settled in Clear Lake. She worked in restaurants and as a practical nurse. Her hobbies included baking, crocheting afghans and piecing quilts. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Clear Lake and the Grandmother's Club. She is survived by three grandsons, Larry Fuller of Clear Lake, Anthony Fuller of Granada Hills, Calif., and Mark Fuller of Beatrice, Neb.; and a half-sister, Vella Nelson of Minneapolis, Minn. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Lester and Frederick Fuller; infant twin daughters; two brothers, Fredrick and Harvey Woodliff; a granddaughter, Joan Nissen; two half-sisters; and two half-brothers.

She also worked at the home office of Skelley Oil Company in Omaha after the War. In 1949 she returned to the Gruver area. After their marriage, the couple farmed near Forest City, Iowa, Dunnell, Minn., and Peterson, Minn. before moving to Estherville in 1969. They also lived in Forest City, before moving to Austin, Minn., in 1987. Verna Mae is survived by her husband, Murven O. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Francis, in 1974; a stillborn daughter, Jean Ann; two sisters, Anita Phillips and Lucille Hahn; and one brother, Edward Nugent.
MCGG 8/31/1995 circa Glen Hovey CHARLES CITY Glen Hovey, 68, of 1107 18th Ave., died Tuesday (Aug. 22, 1995) at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn., following a short illness of infectious pneumonia. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Highway 18 and Clark Streets. Monsignor Stanley J. Hayek, pastor, will be conducting the service. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with military rites. Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. today at Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., where there will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Glen was born to George Hovey and Velma (nee) McDonald Hovey at Independence, on May 30, 1927. Glen attended school in Charles City. After schooling, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps, 1943-46. Glen married Betty L. Bailey in Charles City on June 24, 1948. The couple remained in the area as operators of a petroleum distributing business, Hovey Oil Company, and a group of convenience stores. Glen has been active in community organizations. He was a member of the Moose, the V.F.W., the American Legion and the Iowa Petroleum Marketers Association and Classic Car Club. Living family members include his wife, Betty, of Charles City; two daughters, Glenda and her husband, Dennis Gifford, and Geri and her husband, Mike Frascht, all of Charles City; one son, Scott and his wife, Marsha Hovey of Charles City; and eight grandchildren, Brandy and Lacey Gifford; Nicole, Stewart, and Valerie Frascht; and Taylor, Samantha, and Katie Hovey. Other family members include three brothers, Kenneth Hovey and Raymond Hovey, both of Charles City, and George Hovey of Las Vegas, Nev., and one sister, Ruth (Mrs. Dale) Chestek of Copperas Cove, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Velma Hovey, and one sister, Lois. Friends may direct any memorials to the Charles City Revitalization Fund.
MCGG 8/31/1995 circa Florence E. Van Heiden MASON CITY Florence E. Van Heiden, 76, of 621 S. Louisiana Ave., died Thursday (Aug. 24, 1995) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. David Shogren of Wesley United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:30 to 8 p.m. today and on Saturday morning until time of services at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Florence E. Van Heiden was born April 10, 1919, in Mason City the daughter of Philip Geyer and Hilda Petrie Geyer. She married Edward H. Van Heiden on Dec. 13, 1945, in Kansas. They moved to Mason City that same year and Mrs. Van Heiden has resided here since. She loved painting and bingo. Survivors include two sisters, Marion Engleman of Mason City and Ellen Bailey of Washington, D.C.; one niece, Linda Neibergall of Mason City; one nephew, Gregory Engleman of Astoria, Ore.; grand- nieces, Debra Neibergall of Mesa, Ariz.; Rebecca and her husband, Tim Fry of Des Moines, and Angela Engleman of Clear Lake; grand-nephew, Jeffrey Engleman and his wife, Rachael, of Astoria, Ore. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, in 1978, two brothers and one sister.
