BILL SARGENT'S TRAD-JAZZ ROUSERS DIXIELAND BAND is happy, carefree and composed right before your very eyes, or ears. It's a bodacious band that really kicks . . . nothing pretentious or refined about it. Milwaukee-based group is led by drummer Bill Sargent who in addition to leading his own bands, has performed with an endless list of some of this country's most notable musicians.
BILL SARGENT, known as "Wisconsin's King of Swing", started playing professionally at 13 years of age and was traveling with Clyde McCoy by age 16. He has performed with The Jim Cullum Jazz Band, Terry Blaine & The New York City All-Stars, Buddy Morrow, Bob Havens, Ray McKinley, Ray Brown, Buddy DeFranco, Barrett Deems, Chuck Hedges, Bob Schulz, Ed Polcer, Vince Giordano, Gary Church, Willie Pickens, Mark Shane and many more including many famous big bands and artists from many different genres of music.
JEFF PIETRANGELO is a number 1 call trumpet player in Wisconsin. Jeff has performed with many top names in music including the Temptations, the Four Tops, Perry Como, Aretha Franklin, Manhattan Transfer, Henri Mancini, Johnny Mathis at many top music events including the Monterey & Newport Jazz Festivals.
HAROLD SMITH was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago and was influenced by legends Fats Waller, Art Tatum, and, of course, Benny Goodman. He has performed with Tom Saunders, Dan Barrett, Bill Allred, Marty Grosz, Lou Columbo, as well as Chuck Hedges, and many others in the field of mainstream and trad jazz. Harold has been a regular with Russ Phillips' Windy City All Stars at Andy's Jazz Club in Chicago as well as Bill Sargent's Trad-Jazz Rousers Dixieland Band.
TOM BARTLETT joined the Salty Dogs at Purdue University in 1959, and has been their principal trombonist ever since. He has also performed and recorded with the Yerba Buena Stompers, Red Rose JB, Down Home JB, West End JB, Ernie Carson, and the Frisco JB. He often gigged with Bob Schulz during the years when Bob was based in the Midwest. Tom spends his summers playing at Wrigley Field in the Cubs' Dixieland Quintet.
STEVE LEWANDOWSKI Steve Lewandowski has more than 30 years of professional experience in the music business as a guitarist and his playing is characterized by widely diverse styles such as post-bop, funk edged jazz, and blues. Steve has performed with a variety of international and local artists - The Drifters, The Platters, Shirelles, Fifth Dimension, Chuck Hedges and backed artists such as Buddy Rich, Pat Metheny, Yellow Jackets, and Dizzy Gillespie.
DAVID GANNETT is recognized as one of America's premiere jazz tubists. He has appeared on recordings, films, television shows and radio broadcasts as well as touring with such groups as The Boston Symphony Orchestra, Arthur Fiedler and The Boston Pops, Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus, The Don Ellis Orchestra, Rosie O'Grady's in Orlando, Florida, Walt Disney Productions (California and Florida) and The Mickey Finn Show. He has also appeared with Bob Hope, Bette Midler, Mel Torme', Ray Charles, Henry Mancini, Peter Nero, Dave Brubeck, Peggy Lee, Burt Reynolds and Phyllis Diller among others. David Gannett was a founding member of the popular show band, The Black Dogs, touring world-wide including an historic performance at The Great Wall of China.
