There is no sure way...

There is no sure way to write good poetry
just as there's no easy way to please the masses,
you can write so well that so many see
but not sweet enough to please the lasses

and you know, sure as day, that there'll be times
when it brings on the chills, what you write
but as likely as not, many miss your rhymes
and where you knew wrong, people saw right.

So, maybe you thought, "This is clear as glass",
and those reading it tripped on their feet
and maybe what you wrote you knew was crass
but the lads they all said "It's so sweet".

Now whether you're the kind who just pumps the stuff out
or you keep impressing the wall with your head
you know they'll be quiet where they were supposed to shout
or instead of laughter, tears will be shed.

And there are the times when you write crazy things
because making sense has been driving you mad
"The truth; it shines;". they say. "How it rings,
never a saner thought has ever been had."

So you should, maybe, just write what you like,
put in ink those thoughts that you want
cause who really cares if they call you a psych
it's your life, not theirs, to be blunt.
