A Conference Commemorating The Bicentennial of Abraham Lincoln's Birth

You are invited to a special Lincoln gathering in an historic place: a bicentennial conference at Washington and Lee University. This venerable campus, nestled between the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Allegenies, offers an attractive setting for an enjoyable autumn weekend in western Virginia. Lucas Morel, who is a faculty member at the school, is coordinating the program.

The program opens with an address by Associate Justice Clarence Thomas and includes an impressive line-up of participants: Michael Burlingame, Samuel Calhoun, Joseph Fornieri, Dennis Foster, Allen C. Guelzo, Fred Kaplan, Benjamin Kleinerman, Thomas Krannawitter, Lucas Morel, Mackubin Owens, Matthew Pinsker, and Steven Woodworth. The conference is sponsored by the Apgar Foundation, the Johnson Program in Leadership and Integrity, and the Politics Department at Washington and Lee University.

Click here for details on how to reach the campus. Click here for a pdf map of the campus. If you are flying, use the Roanoke Regional Airport, which is 50 miles south of Lexington. Take I-81 north to Lexington (Exit 188B); go west for two miles. Allow an hour to drive from Roanoke to Lexington.

The cost for the conference is only $30, which includes admission to all sessions and the luncheon.
