This is the other original equestrian statue which Torrey designed for the Lincoln tomb. A West Virginia native, Torrey studied at the Chicago Art Institute and worked as an assistant to Lorado Taft. As an Illinois lawyer, Abraham Lincoln traveled the old Eighth Judicial Circuit twice a year, arguing cases in local county courthouses.
