Lincoln meets with a hometown committee making arrangements for
a public observance of President Andrew Jackson's death.
Salmon Chase, Secretary of the Treasury under Lincoln, resigns
his position.
President Lincoln signs the Pacific Railroad Act and the Morrill
Land Grant Act.
