A "Sesquicentennial Salute", Scott County's response to Iowa's 150th birthday, is composed of three major components:
- The Scott County Sesquicentennial Parade, which was held on May 25th.
- 150 Days of Celebration - A series of events sponsored by individual communities to be held from June to September 1996. This includes the Long Grove Strawberry Fest to be held on June 9th;
- Big River Rendezvous, a riverboat round-up as a fitting grand finale to Scott County's Salute, the Quad-Cities will host a four-day spectacular land and river festival from October 10-13, 1996.
