IV-HLV wrestles at Solon

Iowa Valley-HLV’s Brice Brecht won the 145-pound championship at the Solon Invitational Saturday, Jan. 12 as the Tigers wrestling team placed eighth in the team standings with 81.5 points.
Five other Tiger wrestlers placed at the tournament. At 103 pounds Reif McBride went 2-2 for fourth place as did Devon Van Meter at 125.
Scot Riedel was fifth at 152 pounds for the Tigers at 2-2 while teammate Ryan Meineke was fifth at 135 pounds as he went 3-2.
At 189 pounds, John Hinshaw finished the day in third place with a 2-2 record.
Also wrestling at the tournament were Colton Rabe (130), Seth Gunzenhauser (160) and Brian Behrens (171).

Iowa Valley-HLV sweeps double dual
The Tigers wrestling team handled a pair of South Iowa Cedar League foes with ease at a home meet Wednesday, Jan. 9 in Marengo. They knocked off Tri-County 55-9 and North Mahaska 66-6.
Against Tri-County, seven Tigers received wins by forfeit while Seth Gunzenhauser (160), Brian Behrens (171) and John Hinshaw (189) all won decisions against the Trojans.
Against North Mahaska, the Tigers benefited from nine wins by forfeit. In contested matches, Brice Brecht (145) and Gunzenhauser (160) pinned their opponents.
