IV boys top BGM

Iowa Valley outscored BGM 52-30 in the final three quarters of their 60-41 victory over the Bears in boys basketball Saturday, Jan. 12 in Marengo.
“We played well considering it was our fifth game in nine days,” said IVHS head coach Warren Olson. “Mason Howar had a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds to go with five steals. Blake McCaw added five rebounds and Josh (Timm), Aaron (Morton) and Bart (Hansen) all rebounded well.”
Tyler Olson led the Tigers with 24 points and four assists. McCaw finished with six points and Jarrod Uthoff added five points in the win.
Morton, Timm and Hansen all collected three rebounds against the Bears.
North Mahaska 49, Iowa Valley 40
The Tigers trailed by only one point at the end of the third period at 29-28, but the North Mahaska Warhawks went on a 20-12 run to close out the game in New Sharon Friday, Jan 11.
Tyler Olson led the Tigers with 26 points and Jared Findlater added 12 against the Warhawks.
The Tigers were down only two points with five minutes to go in the game, before the Warhawks went on their run.
Olson and Findlater combined for 10-for-16 three-point shooting in the contest.
Mason Howar led Iowa Valley in rebounds with six while Blake McCaw led in assists with three against North Mahaska.
HLV 56, Iowa Valley 39
HLV used a 14-4 scoring advantage in the third period to pull away from the Iowa Valley Tigers in boys basketball action Tuesday, Jan. 8 in Marengo by a 56-39 final.
Leading scorer Tyler Olson was held to only 14 points in the contest by the Warriors defense.
Josh Timm finished with nine points and seven rebounds for Iowa Valley and Mason Howar led in rebounding with 10 for the Tigers.
Jarrod Uthoff had five points for Iowa Valley and Nick Schulze, Jared Findlater and Blake McCaw all scored three points each against the Warriors.
