By DOUG DORNATH

Iowa City Regina handed the Clear Creek Amana boys a 58-49 setback in Eastern Iowa Hawkeye Conference boys basketball action Monday, Jan. 14 in Iowa City.

Alex Novak led the Clippers with 26 points, hitting 12-for-17 of his shots from the floor. Zach West added 10 points and Mitchell Pitlick tallied eight in the loss for CCA.

Ted Hergert finished with six points and led the team in rebounds with eight.

The Clippers trailed 21-18 at the half and 34-32 after three periods of play.

CCA 56, West Branch 46

Clear Creek Amana came away with a 56-46 victory at West Branch Friday, Jan. 11 in EIHC boys basketball action.

Alex Novak had 19 points, 12 rebounds and nine blocked shots to lead CCA, and teammates Mitchell Pitlick and Zach West tallied 13 points and 10 points respectively.

“Michael Brack was a key to our big second half,” said CCA head coach Steve Ottoson. “He had 11 assists and keyed our fast break. Jeremy Hahn also came off the bench and hit two big three-pointers. I was proud of Mitchell Pitlick and Zach West, who ran the floor and beat West Branch up the floor. I thought Alex Novak dominated in the second half, after not scoring in the first half. He was just one block away from getting a triple-double.”

Hahn added eight points, while Ted Hergert had four points and Brack tallied two points for CCA.

Williamsburg 69, CCA 41

Clear Creek Amana fell to Williamsburg on the road Tuesday, Jan. 8 in Williamsburg 69-41.

Alex Novak finished with 16 points and seven rebounds for the Clippers and Zach West finished with 12 points and seven rebounds in the loss.

Michael Brack and Mitchell Pitlick both tallied five points for CCA. Brack led in assists with seven.

“Williamsburg shot the ball very well and caused us to have to play a quicker pace,” said CCA head coach Steve Ottoson. “They are a hard team to guard because they all can shoot and they did in this game.”

The Raiders hit 7-for-11 from three-point range and were 20-for-48 from inside the arc.
