T-shirt sales to benefit Wilson educational scholarship fund

Montezuma High School students Alexa Wheaton and Macy Taylor went the extra mile this summer to honor the late Dennis Wilson, teacher, coach and friend to many.
Wheaton, a junior, designed a T-shirt utilizing the “Peace Sign” that Wilson made famous at Montezuma, put it on a T-shirt along with the words “Peace Out Wils” and had more than 400 printed. The teens asked the students, teachers and staff to wear the blue T-shirts to school on the first day in honor of Wilson who died June 17.
Proceeds from the sale of the T-shirts were earmarked for the Dennis Wilson Educational Scholarship fund established by his family following his untimely death.
By last Tuesday, Aug. 25, the teens had sold 374 T-shirts, and where already making plans to make second order of T-shirts in early September.
“We just thought it would be a good way to honor Mr. Wilson on the first day of school,” said Alexa.
“We thought it would be a good way to show our appreciation, respect and love to Mr. Wilson,” added Macy, a freshmen at Montezuma.
