Hospital recognized for world class lab

By NICK NARIGON

Representatives from Siemens Healthcare joined Marengo Memorial Hospital administration members for a ribbon cutting of the hospital’s first-of-its-kind chemical analyzer July 15.

The analyzer, built by Siemens Healthcare, tests blood, urine and other samples.

MMH began using the very first Dimension EXLS system with LOCI module advanced chemiluminescence technology in February.

“We are proud to have an instrument of this caliber,” said MMH CEO Genny Maroc, FACHE. “The lab staff has been delighted with it and our physicians and providers are pleased we have technology of this caliber.”

Tim Schroeder, BSMT, lab supervisor for MMH, said the Dimension EXL has been very reliable and it allows MMH to compete well with other entities.

There are now 60 of the machines in use worldwide, and Marengo Memorial Hospital was the first to use the lab.

Lisa Edwards, area vice president for Siemens, said there is a waiting list for other hospitals wanting to use a Dimension EXL with LOCI.

“It is great to be able to work with the people Marengo Memorial Hospital, who are dedicated to providing quality health care and who understand the role of technology in providing that quality,” Edwards said.

The machine allows customers access to fast, sensitive immunoassay testing on a trusted and proven integrated platform.

LOCI technology allows for fast analytical turnaround time of 10 minutes for critical cardiac tests such as high-sensitivity Troponin I.

“The Dimension EXL System with LOCI module offers customers new technology to meet the growing demand for more advanced integrated systems,” said Donal Quinn, CEO, Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics.

The Dimension EXL system with LM allows clinical laboratories to run a broad menu of tests. Panels available for the system include: cardiac, thyroid disorder, therapeutic drug monitoring, drugs-of-abuse testing, protein testing, fertility, and routine and specialty chemistry testing.
