New business opens on the square

When paging through the Iowa County phone book, there are listings for medical doctors and physical therapists, but no therapists, which is why Jacqueline Weydert has started a counseling business in Williamsburg.
“It seems very needed. It’s definitely something that Iowa County doesn’t have,” Weydert said.
Weydert’s private counseling business, Midwest Counseling, offers counseling services for people ages 4 on up. Sessions may be structured to serve an individual, group, family, couple or child. Midwest Counseling offers therapy for depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, bi-polar people, individuals with personality disorders, people recently suffering from family or job loss, children with behavioral problems and depression, sexual abuse victims and parents involved with Department of Human Services.
Originally from Fort Dodge, Weydert has lived in Parnell the last four years. She is a licensed independent social worker with 12 years of experience from counseling in homes and school districts. She currently works for the Grinnell School District, while starting up her new business.
Midwest Counseling is open Tuesdays, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and by appointment.
Midwest Counseling is located directly behind Edward Jones at 501 1/2 Court St., Williamsburg. To schedule an appointment, call (319) 668-1217.
