Board approves resignation of county treasurer

The Iowa County Board of Supervisors approved the resignation of Iowa County Treasurer Kim Tanke effective June 30.
The supervisors will hold a public hearing July 1 at 9 a.m. to appoint an interim treasurer to fi ll the remainder of Tanke’s term.
The Iowa County Treasurer position is up for re-election in the Nov. 2 general election. The newly elected treasurer will take offi ce Jan. 1, 2011.
HEALTH DEPARTMENT WATER
Iowa County Supervisor Ray Garringer reported the county will have to pay up to $3,000 to redo the water lines at the Iowa County Health Department office.
The City of Marengo is currently reconstructing the block of Court Avenue in front of the health department office. The City of Marengo is putting in a new water main and requiring all businesses to hook up to the new water main.
Garringer said there is no basement at the health department offi ce, and the county will have to bore under the building in order to install new water lines. He said it will cost approximately $2,000 to $3,000 to undertake the project
