The Newhall City Council met Oct. 26 at the city hall.

Facility Plan: Dave Haugen of MSA Professionals was present to give the findings of the facility plan for the wastewater treatment plant based on the new DNR regulations.

Public Hearing: Mayor Mike Hagen opened the public hearing. Jim Holz from MSA Professionals outlined the procedures for the CDBG grant application. Hearing no further comments from the public Mayor Hagen closed the public hearing.

New Business: The council hired MSA Professionals as the grant writers/administrators and as the engineering services to proceed on the wastewater treatment upgrade.

Jim Holz had questions for the council regarding the housing and community development needs of Newhall.

The council approved submitting a CDBG grant for a new wastewater treatment plant.

Fire department membership was tabled until the Nov. 9 meeting.

Unfinished Business: The council approved the second reading and waived the third reading of Ordinance 262 – Design Standards.

The council tabled the first reading of Ordinance 264 – Four Way Stop Intersection, to get more community input.

Council/Mayor: Administrative penalty guidelines were discussed.

The council voted to keep the deposit for the rental of the pavilion on Oct. 23 and 24 due to a table being damaged.
