Groundbreaking is planned for Central Lutheran

Central Lutheran School will hold a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday, April 21, at 8:30 am to mark the official start of its latest construction project:  a new gymnasium and kitchen remodel and expansion.

Fundraising efforts began in November 2009 with a pledge drive aimed at families of current students, congregation members from the three supporting Lutheran churches and CLS alumni.  At this time, approximately $330,000 has been donated.  Another $390,000 has been pledged and will be collected during the course of the next three years.

The new high school-sized gym will be large enough to allow for two volleyball games to be played simultaneously and will have seating capacity for approximately 300 people.  Plans also call for a new stage for performances and concerts, locker rooms and storage.  The remodeled kitchen will expand the current kitchen by more than twice the size and will have dedicated space for concessions.

The public is welcome to attend the groundbreaking.  Donations for the building project may be sent to Central Lutheran School, PO Box 190, Newhall, Iowa, 52315.
