The Legacy Installation of the sculpted brick mural “The Legacy” was completed in just four days last week on the west wall of the Belle Plaine Area Museum. Designed by Cedar Rapids artist Gary Anderson and sculpted by Iowa sculptor Sten Eistentrager, “The Legacy” depicts 150 years of Belle Plaine area history and is the largest mural of its kind in the state, measuring 18-by-28 feet. At a cost of $105,000, “The Legacy” was funded by the Mansfield Trust, individual donors, two bequests and a historical society “buy-a-brick” campaign. The Belle Plaine Historical Society will formally dedicate the mural next May. |
