Awana Clubbers and Families
AWANA has been fantastic this year! On any given Wednesday evening you will find around 45-50 kids and 15-20 leaders and listeners. We also have a great bunch of Leaders in Training that have been invaluable. We are down a little in attendance, but they are a very consistent group and they give it their all each evening. We have been blessed this year with transportation from Bloomfield! Bill Rardin attends church in Ottumwa and they have given him permission to use their 15 passenger van each Wednesday to bring children from the Bloomfield area. This has enabled some children to attend consistently that otherwise would not be able to.
This year not only have we focused on memorization as always, but also on prayer. This has been a very humbling experience for me. Each evening after their council time we have opened it up for prayer requests and a time of prayer! We wanted to reinforce to them that anyone can talk to God and you can bring everything to Him. WOW!! What a wonderful response! And what a window into their little hearts. These children have a heart for Christ and for those around them. We have had requests for anything from broken bones, colds, lost pets, life threatening illness to the birth of a child and the death of a friend or family member. They have learned not all of our prayers get answered the way we think they should, but we still know that God is in control and He has a plan for us.
