*MY RINKY-DINK WEBSITE*
Well, here's one reason I started this site:
Another reason was, I wanted to see how long it would take for an old man with no website understanding or HTML knowledge to figure out how to build a basic website using only a framing hammer and Vise Grips.....

A BIT ABOUT THE PROJECT:
It started out life as a .22 caliber Ruger 10/22 Rifle in Stainless Steel like this illustration, a Wal Mart exclusive design of Rugers most fancy 10/22, but with 4" more barrel than pictured here.
.
The stock is a
"slightly"
modified 10/22 carbine stock that I put a wide
(3") forearm on in Oak. The bottom has a black plastic
"skidpad" for riding the sandbags smoothly. The trigger
hand grip was built by adding a vertical hardwood dowel to the
stock and then forming it in my hand from Bondo, much the same as
squeezing a ball of mud, then letting it set up while I held it.
VERY "warm" on the hands for a few minutes! As a matter
of fact, it burned like crazy! That process was repeated about
four times till I got it built up to suit my grip. The cheekpiece
is built from stainless steel, fiberglass and Bondo, and is
adjustable for height.
Since that picture was taken, the barrel has been replaced with a Green Mountain 20" Stainless Steel fluted .920" bull barrel. The stock has a barrel tensioner built into the forearm to tension the barrel to control the harmonics created in it when fired. It is operated with a thumbwheel located between the barrel and the forearm, and can be adjusted while on the sandbags with no wrenches. An 1/8" turn on it can increase/decrease the target group size by a full 50%.
The entire trigger group has been modified by me and at present, the trigger pull letoff is set at 15 ounces. Total trigger movement is about .025" (A little more than the thickness of cereal box cardboard). It also has a hand made magazine release and a handmade automatic bolt release.
The scope is a 6X24X40 variable Tasco with an adjustable objective (AO) lens to correct parallax at different yardages. The scope has Stoney Point target knobs on the vertical and horizontal adjustments for changing yardage drop and windage adjustments without removing the caps and using tools. Each click moves it 1/8" at 100 yards.
The magazine hanging below the rifle is actually 2 factory Ruger BX-1 magazines mounted back to back with JB Weld. Total capacity of the combined magazines is 20 rounds instead of the original 10. You still have to turn it over... can't get TOO lazy,,,
The buttplate and shoulder hook are made of transparent Plexiglass.
Since that first photo, the action has been bedded and I have found the rifle shoots its best using Wolf Target Match ammo, of those brands I have tested, with Lapua "L" target ammo coming in a very close second. For the limited field use it might see, Remington Golden hollow point bullets (at least the lot number I have now) do a good job in the cheap ammunition catagory. Everyone has excuses, and mine is that I have cataract on my right eye and as of yet have not had it taken care of. Since I set this page up, I have installed a T36 Weaver target scope with a leveling system attached, and a Kidd Supermatch trigger set at around 4 ounces pull weight (Contrast that with the 8+ POUND factory trigger).. I think I've found a new obsession. In the hands of someone with younger eyes and a steady hand, it might give the bolt action bench shooters a case of night sweats.

Same gun, new paint job and barrel.
If you are interested in guns and their place in our society, but aren't sure where to start, check out these links:
Remember. Political correctness aside, the 2nd Amendment is America's last line of defense. Without it, the United States as we know it would NOT exist! Its presence is the best insurance that our 1st Amendment is secure. Politicans know this and that is the reason for their undying attempts to disembowel it. Those politicans who fear guns should also fear ropes. The undeniable fact of the matter is that the elimination of private ownership of guns has always been the very FIRST objective of every dictator who ever ruled. The attempts at destroying the second amendment is the best example of "incrimentalism" you can find anywhere. Their true motive is not public safety, but the total elimination of the very existance of the amendment itself. The recent fiasco in the Florida Bush/Gore elections and the shenanigans pulled in the New Jersey Senatorial race pulls the mask off the absolute motives of todays politicians to the attain highest amount of POWER they possibly can, using any methods they have available.
I suppose I'll find a bunch more stuff to fill unnecessary webspace with which would be better suited to something else entirely. But for now, this inane pile of sand packed down a rat hole garbage will have to suffice.
Rest assured that anything I can find to destroy the infestation of the Clintons in Wash. D.C. will also be posted here, post haste. Also, rest assured, that while knowing crap runs downhill, had we any idea, up here in Iowa, that when it got down to Arkansas, it would spontaneously hatch and get elected President, we would have put the outhouses further from the riverbanks. MUCH further. Sorry.. The legacy of these two (three?) has (and will) affect America profoundly.

Don't know why you stopped by, but glad you did. There's probably a spare beer in the fridge.....help yourself.
