History: Hattie Corn's Cottage is named after the woman who lived there in the 1940s. She was the last person to use cottage, until now. Since it was built in the 1840's, we couldn't see letting a piece of history go. We're bringing it back to life! |
| Located in a National Historic
District in Bentonsport, Iowa. Only a block from the Des Moines River,
one can hear the tree frogs sing and an occasional owl hoot at night. In
the morning one can often hear a cow moo across the river or roosters
crow down the road, not so loud as to disturb ones sleep, but a pleasant
outdoor greeting.
A bonfire and star gazing make for a pleasant evening in the country. We're just a couple blocks from downtown Bentonsport which contains an antique store, craft shops, pottery, blacksmith and beautiful county park along the river. There aren't any gas stations, grocery stores or malls here!
