In the 2001 comedy Bubble Boy, Jimmy Livingston (Jake Gyllenhaal) suffers from a medical condition that forces him to live in a plastic bubble. Though his parents shelter him most of his life, when he falls in love with his new neighbor Chloe (Marley Shelton), everything begins to change. When Chloe tells Jimmy that she is leaving to be married in Niagara Falls, he decides he must leave his confined home in order to stop her. By sneaking out of his home and traveling in a self-constructed portable plastic bubble, Jimmy must endure bizarre and humorous encounters on his trip in order to reach Chloe and stop her before she gets to the alter!
