Haru (Chris Farley), a well-meaning misfit, has been raised by ninjas and is desperate to overcome his clumsiness and prove himself a worthy ninja. When the blonde and beautiful Sally Jones (Nicollette Sheridan) arrives at the temple and mistakes him for a real ninja, Haru sees his chance and takes the case of investigating her man Martin Tanely (Nathaniel Parker) and witnesses a murder, but botches this badly—the police surmise that a ninja has committed the killing. To redeem himself, Haru embarks upon a mission to Beverly Hills to investigate the case and protect Sally, along the way befriending a hotel employee named Joey (Chris Rock). Hijinks ensue as fellow ninja Gobei (Robin Shou) attempts to watch over Haru without revealing himself.
